It seems the U.S has realised how difficult it is to defeat the Taliban, and have not taken any lessons from the past History of the Country. The British could not force their power on them, nor did the Soviet, they returned disgraceful. If the trend prevails then the U.S will also face failure.
Freedom loving afghans (pakhtuns, turks, et al).. normal people on the street.. much prefer an american "occupation" to what went before it in the name of sovereignity. Please direct your attentions towards the south to understand what is really happening in Afghanistan. The ardent hope of finding solutions to conflicts through negotiations are not solutions by themselves. The situation, if it bears any similarity to the one during the soviet occupation, has more to do with outside intereference than anything to do with afghans.. They are tired of war.. they do not want oppression and hatred.. they much prefer the freedom that they hope we, the free people of the world, can give them. Remember this always, before you dare to represent their culture in any manner.
The war on terror was long due. Unfortunately it is being directed at oil rich countries by US and the real violence is unabetted and the hard core muslim combastism remains free in pakistan, bangladesh and India. The delhi mafias choose not to attack their vote-banks, the washington mafias decide oil over terrorism and the terrorism thrives, unchecked, non-stop. Blasts after blasts have broken ribs of India and no actions have been taken. No compensation from dictator for kargil misadventure is being solicited by delhi mafias, instead more sacrifices of indian blood, lives and property continue at hands of terrorism. The real vicitims of terrorism are the hindus and other non-muslims with no representation (real). They have democraZy in India, but it is not for victims, tax-payers, citizens, voters etc. People like sardar mohan singh, sonia and other karamchands rule delhi. The dream of Moghulisthan thrives...The analysis in your article is another attempt to switch the focus from both domestic and foreign terrorism, by hardcore, fundamentalist, comative islamic jehadic people.
Despite your US bashing in the opening of the article, its Nato(nah!!, US) that was really doing much of the reconstruction through schools, hospitals, roads and employment. Even if it appears US is trying to eradicate Taliban for its own revenge, the ordinary people of Afgan should be glad for having a chance to peek at civilized world. And to us(Indians), I'm glad US is fighting a war in the region which otherwise Mush would have diverted his ragtag warriors towards/into India.
