Mumbai violence
by Veena Adige on Nov 30, 2006 06:19 PM  Permalink

I live in Vashi, New Bombay and work at Tardeo. I pass through Chembur, Sion, Dadar, Shivaji Park, Worli by road. Today a morcha of people carrying blue flags crossed my way at Chembur. The traffic was delayed by about ten minutes but it was peaceful. At worli we saw a few youngsters shouting and running near doordarshan and Jamboree naka. Instead of taking that route we took the straight route to worli naka. We sensed that something was going on, there were crowds . Later at about 12 noon all traffic on that route was stopped. I returned home by train via CST and everything seemed normal.

riot
by anand on Nov 30, 2006 06:17 PM  Permalink

When the same incident was happend a few years back the police could control it within half an hour by shooting down the rioters at Ramabai Cowck in Mumbai and there was no untowered inncident reported after the shooting. But later the police were blamed for firing and took action agaianst the concerned police officials.
Todays incident shows that the police can not take stern action against rioters since they are moraly demorlised by the earlier experience.

riots in maharashtra
by krish on Nov 30, 2006 06:10 PM  Permalink

The whole of Maharashtra is being brought to a standstill by hooligans attacking public and private property because one statue of Dr.Ambedkar was desecrated.

While most citizens would condemn the desecration this kind of violent protests and lawlessness cannot be tolerated in a civilised society. Crores of rupees loss has been incured in one day and who is going to compensate the victims.

The government should be solely held responsible for allowing this kind of lawlessness to affect innocent citizens.

Obviously it it politically motivated
by Ketan on Nov 30, 2006 06:07 PM  Permalink

God help our country when the people who are supposed to serve the nation are burning it. Clearly the politicians are taking us back in time all the time. So many innocent people would have been harrassed and stressed because of this unwarranted spate of violence. I am sure the Dalits or any other citizen of India does not want the violence at all.
