It is ridiculous that these pampered lawless goons thik it is their damn birthright to destroy public property and cause inconvenience to millions - for something that happened in Kanpur! Why don't they go to Kanpur and protest there? Why are they destroying public infrastructure in Maharashtra?
And will these goons ever be caught and charged with breaking the law?
It is no use making politically correct statements like "their sentiments were hurt and things are under control" - what about the sentiments of law abiding citizens. Who the hell will foot the bill for all this loss? How will the world do business with India, when such lumpen elements and their political masters control things?
Do they understand Ambedkar's philosophy? Whom are they following? Is his legacy so fragile that it gets tainted by desecration of a statue?
These guys have proven two things -
1. They are as stupid and fanatic as the Islamic fundamentalists...who protest in India because some cartoon was published in far away Denmark.
2. And the Indian state treats both with velvet gloves...and is a mute spectator to wanton destruction done by them.
Of course most of it's been planned. But how many of these violence-prone hooligans have been arrested? And how many will stand trial for murder, arson and mayhem? And how many wil be fined, or sent to prison? You guessed it, none - this being a 'democracy', the need to appease the voters is greater than enforcing the laws of the land and/or seeing justice done.
Police should open fire on protestors If they start destroying public / private property... They are destroying public property..finally who is paying for that.."We..the tax payers..!!" Instead of Police, Army should take control in such situations! Vilasrao wake up now...
One of the most silly riots I have ever seen for an incident that happened in a far away place. Incident itself is silly, done by either some sinister or ignorant persons. By reacting in this manner, the protestors are only showing that they are no better.
I am sure Ambedkar is in no way lessened by these acts. What is evident is criminalisation of the polity. People tend to confuse criminal acts with genuine protests. Our worthies manning the parliaments and assemblies are squarely responsible for institutionalising these forms of protests at a drop of a hat. And ofcourse we, citizens are responsible for electing poor quality leaders to these august institutions. Lesson for all. " Vote always, and vote for the BEST candidate, never for parties or groups". It does not matter if your candidate does not win.
I was a victim of such violence yesterday night at about 10:45 PM. I was travelling from Borivali to Thane by S.T. Bus. When the bus stopped at Majiwada stop. Some guys started throwing stones and most of the window glasses were broken. Some passengers were also injured... I was lucky as i was on the opposite seat.
Today morning, I had been to Thane for going to office, but no bus, autoricksaw were running...
On the way i saw one mob carrying Ambedkar's photo and shouting... I noticed one thing no one in the mob looked a decent guy. All were looking like roadside idiots (Tapori - Typical Mumbai word for such guys), who don't have any work.
This vandalism is stage managed. When the Shiv Sena had earlier resorted to a bandh, some "good samaritans" had taken them to court and the SC had imposed a heavy penalty on the party. It needs to be seen this time, if the same people take the RPI and other dalit organisations to court for instigating this violence. I wonder why our courts also do not take suo moto cognizance of the politcal parties / organisations fanning the flames? Is it that "secular" parties have a license to take law in their hands?
