When will these people learn that medeival methods of banning access result in repurcussions and are useless? If Orkut is banned it will only invite big time unprecedented trouble and nothing else. The Indian judicial and governance system must learn, understand and adapt to the ways of free and responsible comminucation and act accordingly instead of accepting plea on bans and such stupid measures and degrading itself. A better option would be to inform Orkut, report the community as Bogus and get it removed. Nowhere has Orkut been made a party and this is ridiculous as those whose feelings are hurt should first read the terms of service before visiting the site. Otherwise it only smacks of their myopic and malafide intentions righlt deserving to draw flack from netizens. Internet has helped the world in many ways, in improving relations and understanding and it should be used with reponsibility and for that purpose only.
How does it matter if someone writes anything on orkut? This is the strangest thing I have heard! Is India going backward day by day? It would be better if the government focusses on the real issues instead of wasting time and energy like this.
I think it's a wise idea to ban orkut. The site has already started fomenting trouble among religions and nations with the presence of certain communities. Communities such as "I hate India", "I hate Pakistan' can only aggravate things. When Google, which owns Orkut, can ensure that there's no community on Orkut criticizing Google, why can't it ensure the same for India, Pakistan or any other country?
this is really crazy. why doesn't he ask for a ban on the whole internet? after all thats thru which the community was created. if he has a grudge against someone why take it out on the people who are not linked even remotely to the incident?
i for one appreciate the "orkut" atyle. good way to keep connected, that too free of cost.
i'm sure interested to know how he is going to keep similar communities popping up in the wide world of internet. can he make out if is some other language, for instance chinese? maybe he will get to ban all chinese portals. sheer dump logic.
why dont the newspapers be banned , so also the media. merely because a medium is liable to be abused, that is no reason to impose a ban. If that is accepted, ban will have to be imposed on every types of media..electronic , print, etc.. the case shoyuld have be trown out at the treshhold itself
If people are going to be pissed about such communities on the internet and start banning all of them then we will need a SPECIAL INTERNET COMMUNITY BANNING MINISTRY who will need a search engine that crawls and finds such internet locations faster than google. Which is a waste of time and money. Whoever is pissed about this community could start a community in what they believe in and bring more believers together. Makes more sense to me. Anyone who is so defensive of his or her pride is just not confident of their pride. Don't waste your time and everybody else's.
Its upto the people to use the resources properly. Why should innocent people be punished because of some idiot who has done something stupid. Why can\'t the Courts order for Banning emails and all the net resources ?? Grow Up people ... Punish the people who are violating rules (if rules don\'t support the punishment, amend it. Afterall, Humans made the rules :)
