The PIL seems more like Personal Interest Litigation. But then if Orkut should be banned then I recommend everything related to Orkut be banned. What's Orkut without a Computer, an Operating System... Lets ban IBM & Mircrosoft for providing the platform for the users to write the crap they did about Shivaji. How dare they? But what's IBM & Mircrosoft without the broadband & the telephone line connected to my PC. Lets ban BSNL & MTNL and all telephone networks for connnecting these users to the Internet with which they wrote the crap about Shivaji. Lets ban the chain of events that triggered this crap being written. I guess it will finally end at the feet of Shivaji. What do we do about him? Maybe we should ban History. U cant ban the medium-end of the story- shiv sainiks are hooligans..and yeah i love the word Sultana-i respect hinduism and Islam at the same time. on one side there's taliban and other shivsena. Taliban fights FOR pakistan, shivsena fights WITH india. We are our worst enemies.

Its a pity that while the pakistani initiated community "we hate india" having burning flag as their community photo is still alive and active in orkut, people are caring about a marati king who ruled this place centuries earlier, but have not raised their voice against pakistani based community. While the country's present integrety is at stake, its a pity that they cry to pay tribute to century old king!
so just coz of some vulgurity the community shud be ban,whats the reason to do so...if you are so much keen of your leaders and successors then,why dont you make ac act thru govt to avoid such things,directly asking to stop a website dont it looks like DADAGIRI,if using a common sense ask orkut to specify the rules and regulation for ther website,Indians knws only to just totally erase the things as by using political power wat else u can do other tht,if have so much guts then solve the matter with the current condition,well its suppose to one site,what will you all can do if some on other site the same act or similar act is been done,will you ask to ban even those site,if yes then ask the High court to pass a law to ban internet itself india..so that will be the ultimate soloution for all the problems..
Just because someone at some remote corner of the globe writes something defamatory about Shivaji or Gandhi doesnt mean that orkut should be banned. These are miscreants who misuse every forum available to them.
There are emails floating around supporting cause of jihad in Kashmir. So what next : Ban emails?
Such petitions should be discouraged at primary stage itself. If need be, the government can warn Orkut and demand blocking such communities. Nothing beyond that.

Why in the world orkut will host an anti Shivaji community, it just hosts any God damn community people create, If I had authority I might send the guy who pleed to jail for acting and talking stupid, instead of banning orkut.

A better way would be to join the group and educate them about Shivaji. When they don't have answers, no one will believe them. Banning orkut will result in several such sites mushrooming and making it difficult to control things altogether.
I dont know why we make such a big deal out of this. India is a democracy and people keep forgetting that. Well if someone has a view or opinion on something or someone, so be it. If you dont believe in that, dont buy it and continue living the way you have been. Its high time we stop enforcing whats good and whats not, on everyone. Slowly and steadily we are making a shift from a democratic environment to a communist environment.
