drunk drivers should be made to drink more and more on purpose and then told to drive through a mine field and they should be told all of this. i am sure they will drive really carefully after this.

If you think asking for a Rs.250-00 fine will deter the drunken driving ... u may be wrong. But if the fine is Rs.2,50,000-00 + vehicle seizure + Cancelation of the driving licence for life time and endorsement in the passport that the person is punished for drunken driving, will deter anyone for doing so.
The law has to be severe, so that anyone will have to think not twice... but always that he doesnot want to DRINK and DRIVE.

I do not think there is a need to amend the existing laws to punish the driving offenders. Executing the punishment is the problem. As long as we have policemen, who accept Beedis and cigarettes as bribe, these offenders will be at large. To me, the citizens (public)should take the law into their hands and punish the offenders on the spot is the only way out.
Apart from normal punishments as per the law available in the country, the guilty should be canned as per the punishment is being praciced in Singapore and shown in the Television,then no one will dare enough to touch the steering after drinking.
I personally think this is a grave issue which is on a constant rise at a amazing pace. Authorities needs to take stern action and our judiciary needs to set out a model judgement which can set example on the gravity of this crime . For sure, driving license should be revoked permanently and offenders should be charged with charge of attempt to murder.
