After going through all the stories about these people like Sanjeev Nanda, Salman Khan and other rich lousy characters of their ilk who are experts in killing people by running over them as result of driving under the influence of alcohol, I really wonder whether they can do the same in any other country despite the power and influence their parents have in saving them from any conviction.
It is the lack of fear for the law out there in India which encourages them to do whatever they feel like even if it means violating them law at there sweet will. Had it been in some other country in the Middle East or in Europe or US they would have spent there time inside the prison for such a kind of an offence.
But what to do? Why talk about punshing these people when they can get away from the law? We are Indians and we are good at raising and hue and cry for 3 or 4 days and forgeting such kind of an incidence or any other forever, only to be reminded once again when a similar kind strikes again.
Traffic Police can play a vital role in stopping drunk driving,They have prooved it earlier by making people habitual of helmet and seat belt.like that they should seriously think about drunk driving. The punishment amount should be very high.
My suggestion is not based on law but on humanity. The innocent bystanders/sleepers were not asking to be killed by these superbrats who have no respect for human lives. Their motto in live - drinks, drugs, dates & sxx. These guys should be given overdoses of drinks & drugs and left to rot & die. These guys are not repentant for anything that they have done. They have no regrets for the unwarranted loss of lives. They are joking and acting smart about the whole issue. I wish the worst for all of them and all their relatives who are supporting them (saying that what happened was not their fault & that they should not worry). We don't need such careless and irresponsible youth as our future. HOPE THEY ALL ROT IN HELL!
If they already arrested for Accident Punsih them as per Law and if they didn't made any accident but to preven them to do in future, Life Time "No Driving Licenced In India" Ban should be imposed on them.
They can Drink but not allow to drive after Drink and if find Guilty Life Time "No Driving Licenced In India" Ban should be imposed on them.
Drunk drivers must be punsihed heavily. But it will never happen in India. Our country is not like USA or UK where police are free to arrest even president's Bush daughters for keeping liquer with them despite of their being under aged. Similarly, Prime Minister Blayer (UK) had to visit the police station to sign the bond personally to get his son out of the police station.
Another point which is also important is that we should also not favour illegal encroachments of the pavements or the road sides. Had the people not been sleeping on the pavements, there would not have been any deaths inspite of rash driving. Why not we question authorities why people are allowed to sleep on the payments, which is also "illegal". No one is authorized to use govt. property as their own "house-varandah" for sleeping purposes. If they do so,they should also put into the jail as it happens in other civilized country. In order to stop this kind of rampant illegal encroachments of payments, these people should also be penalized.
Our law should be made strict as much possible for both (1) drunk drivers and (2) the people who use pavements for their personal use.
Cancel the license of those drunk drivers without any mercy , if any one is killed by them treat that as murder crime and punish for that. dont allow them to live freely,
First they should made to pay for the Whole life expenses for the dependant of the loss member of the family in lumpsum or monthly or through insurance. They should make to stay with the family of the lost member and see their suffering for at least for six months. Then their license should be cancelled for at least ten years(by than they will be more matured), with all proof procedure like finger print records (the RTO should have all records online to all india basis so things can be checked, and issuance of license from other RTO office i.e. of diff state can be avoided. After midnight police should be more vigilant with speed check / and breath check equipments, there are more fixed places where these things do happen again and again, the records of these places police do have. There is big ? we hope & expect we will find sober police after 12 midnight, other wise the result will be opposite.......
Yes drunk driving is a problem, but a bigger problem is people sleeping on street/pavements. Even after 60 years of independence, there are people without homes. Cannot blame the drivers as a car can go out of control even without drinking. My country Bharat is only good and producing people and then leaving them on streets.
Most of our laws are juxtaposed with loopholes and the thus the culprits escape. The authorities are empowered to take action against the real offenders, but there should have the strong 'will' to drive the initiative to take action against such onces irrespective of their social status and class to which they belong to. This is lacking in our authorities with whom power rests. We are in some way become helpless and the public always view 'crime' leniently. If wished so to punish, the existing framework of law is sufficient. What we need is to curb the attitude, illustrating the consequences and losses that incurred due the careless driving or any similar irresponsibility of citizens.
