The caste system is a mark on each and every Indian living today. Coming from a Brahmin family myself, I have never really understood the obsession with this social hierarchy where the "superiority" of the upper class is a reiterative factor in almost every aspect of our lives. As far as introspection goes, the questions should be posed: Why do we Indians love to berate our own fellow humans and Indians so much? What pleasure are we supposed to get from it? And how does it reallly improve our lives? If you think about it, this socials system of inequality does a lot more harm than good to the people as a whole. Also, it is eventually the people from the grassroot levels who can institute a change (as opposed to giving a vast percentage of seats in elite educational institutions to the disadvantaged).
The sooner we purge this caste system from our social lives the better off we will be for it, and events like these should be used as motivational factors.
I hope they catch the people responsible and punish them to the full extent of the law.
