bangalore or bangalooru?
by shweta on Nov 03, 2006 05:06 PM  Permalink

I think instead of changing name, karnataka govt should concentrate upon infrastructure n all..i dont understand in which sense this name change will help them??
Also as its an IT city many foriegners come here..it'll be bit difficult for them to pronounce.

We welcome the renaming of Bangalore as "Bengalooru".

Karnataka is not colonial name. You're either non-Kannadiga or idiot.

Bangalore- the name is excellent
by John Payso on Nov 03, 2006 03:28 PM  Permalink

It is crisp, clear, modern sounding, and difinately have a galore to it.

on the other hand I cant even pronounce the other name and it is no good to the IT capital of South Asia.

I hope my small email will revert the name back to BANGALORE.

Jai Hind

Banglore,

Its a fact that, we were under the control of britishers for years together and today we are under the control of politicians. Our dear politicians spend their precious time, energy, money on thinking and implementing such futile jobs. If we come across millions of our population who do not have minimum common need like water, shelter, food etc. If these exercise is done on implementing such social activites, it would really make our city attractive.
Our country is already divided in to various states, cultures, and what not, these kind of activities still divide our mindset and make us more hipocrat.

Lets all work together towards the development of our nation.

Do not dabble with Belgaum
by Nimish V Goray on Nov 03, 2006 02:15 PM  Permalink

Any name change is OK. But I oppose the change of name from Belgaum to Belgavi. This is going to cause a riot and many "Belgavians" would have to pay.

I agree with change of name
by Vishy on Nov 03, 2006 01:00 PM  Permalink

Bengalooru has always been Bengalooru when you write in Kannada. So is the case with the other city names which are being given the original name. I don't see anything wrong in giving back the original name. At the same time the infrastructure of the city is in a bad shape and serious measure should be taken to improve it.
