Let the Almighty save all!
by puma on Nov 06, 2006 02:54 PM  Permalink

Yes off course, when Bombay become Mumbai, when Calcutta become Kolkatta and when Madras become Chennai the uproar which was not seen is believed to seen now bze that all were 'one for proud' and here it is a region.

There were big noises for communism, saffornism etc. The all new 'linguistism' had arrived and not? Can you speak it out?

Let the Almighty save all of us...

Don't play dirty politics on people. If politicians just want to keep tradition first change INDIA name as BHARAT then change local cities..Better to concentrate on people's problems than these low preffered topics

about the change of name of Bangalore
by stephen lincoln on Nov 06, 2006 01:33 PM  Permalink

I fully endorse the stand taken by the state government with regard to the change of name from Bangalore to Bengalooru.Further, i wish yo say that it is not a change of name, but restoration of the original name.As Kannadigas we have our own identity, and for us Bangalore has always been Bengalooru, making it official was long over due.I appeal to the non kannadigas not to interfere with the sentiments of the kannadigas as we have always respected the language, culture and sentiments of non-kannadigas.

Conditions on change of name
by Sunil on Nov 06, 2006 12:11 PM  Permalink

I respectfully understand that the politicians and lot of other Kannada speaking folks are being very aggressive in wanting to change the name, I personally dont care, coz honestly it's not worth the headache and time you devote to these topics. But what surprised me the most is that there are so many of us who are actively interested in a change of name. Dear Kannadigas, have you ever thought of improving the infrastructure of Bangalore, have we thought of million people who sweat it out for one meal. My question is whether it's Bangalore or Bengalooru, will it improve our standard of living, will it improve our infrastructure, Pls think about it. The politicians want to leave legacy behind of changing the name. The Britishers left a us a long time ago, 90% of us were not even born, Why do we seek such foolishness. My only advice is work towards improving our conditions then to change names.

Bangalore or Bangalooru?
by shobha on Nov 06, 2006 09:44 AM  Permalink

I dont think there is anything in a name. But the concern is everybody has to think in terms of globalization and harmony. Bringing in such things would create regionalism. On a short term it might not have any impact but would definitely impact over a long time.

Bangalore Vs Bengalooru
by Krunal Thacker on Nov 05, 2006 10:40 AM  Permalink

It would be better if the Government spends money to laying good roads and bringing down the crime rate rather than satisfying the so called groups who think abt the well beings of the kannadigas.

Bangalore or Bengalooru
by rajesh on Nov 04, 2006 01:55 PM  Permalink

Whats in a name? Does the Name Maketh a man or place more glorious or famous than the deeds done or made. If we take an example of the name of an human akin to a place, we find its so contradictory of the names that the parents have given to their children, for example take Mr.Ram Jethmalani's case he has been named after the most revered god RAM and the virtues and values are lost by the time the name had descended to this generation of RAM jethmalani. The elected candidates of our choice are always in the lookout to earn a fast buck before their tenure is over, hence they come up with such nonsensical ideas to change the name of an place and make a huge hole in the states treasury and the pocket of the common man. Changing the name of a place would not change the history nor the glory and neither the values of the inhabitants of the said place.
