There is nothing wrong in renamiing Bangalore.When Bombay, Madras,Trivendram, Calcutta, Baroda can change their names and people have accepted new names why this big debate on Bangalore name change.Any change will have initial resistance and debate.When major cities in India have changed names there is nothing wrong in Bangalore's name change.
Needless to say,it is a mindless act.When will our leaders realize a city is not made famous by it's name but by it's living conditions,people's behaviour and so many other things?.This changing name will only waste so much tax payer's money.Ask anybody in bangalore whether they want bengalooru or good roads,reducing traffic congestion.
First of all let me clarify, it is not Bangalooru. It is Bengalooru. Bangalore has grown culturally, economically and being a cosmopoliton city,no one has the time to think of all these things. Yes it reminds of your past and you feel proud of it as a kannadiga.But with the population of the kannadigas less than 30 to 35%, it has got no value addition to it and majority of the software cos and all the top management jobs in the kitty of the outsiders. When we step out of our houses we do hear all the languages except kannada including our offices and public places.You hardly see a kannadiga on the busy commercial street or brigade road or malls.Kannadigas are day by day becoming minorities in Bangalore.Who cares for the name, especially the outsiders who constitute the majority of the population.Only the minority few should care for the new name.

You are right Mr.Nanjappa,but shouldn't we raise our voice for being minority.Can we go to other states and do this?
