I don't think change of name will in any way come between the development of the city. If Madras, Bombay, Calcutta change there name and develop why not Bangalore. It is relevant that the local touch and fervour should be there in the name of the place. I fully agree with the action to the names Bengaluru, Mysooru etc.,
Every south Indian agree that it should be Bengaluru and not Bangalore. Watch a news on south indian channel and you will see that they never refer as Bangalore. It is Bengaluru all the way. "Bangalore" is quite wierd name. The name change is the best thing happening to namma Bengaluru(our Bengaluru)
What are we trying to acheive by this name change. We keep looking at the western countries in modernizing our way of living and what not. Just by changing the name to a more traditional way does not mean we would go back to being traditional. There are other better things that the politicians should focus on.
after renaming madras to chennai ,tusanami occured and bombay to mumbai lot of floods occured, doesn't know what is waiting for silicon cum garden city bangalore. government instead of wasting time and money on useless things like this let them think of improving better infrastucucture . they want to do this just to tell the public as their achievemnets in elections speechs in future.
If Bombay, Calcutta, Madras, Delhi all can get their names changed by fanatic people, why Bangalore be left behind..Let us have a thorough whitewash of all our cities..!!
I think instead of doing all these crap work of changing names, the higher authorities of Karnatak Government should contribute their valuable times in social welfare works, upliftment of poor & needy, eradication of poverty, enrich people lives.
These would empower the common man lives. Change in bangalore will not help anyone in any means.
The existing name is good and easy to prounce, State Govt or some extremist kannadiga\'s are thinking too much aggressively for changing the name.As i am native Mangalore, it is easy to say exsting name instead of pronouncing hard name.
Chennaiites felt just as irked when Madras was renamed but now the name sits fine. Much like Mumbai-Bombay. If Karnataka politicians want to throw their weight around and if this their way of going about it, let them. At least it will keep their minds and energy occupied for a while. So much so that they may keep off demanding that more IT jobs in their state go to Kannadigas...
