I am not a kannadiga, but if that is the way they call it so should the rest of us. And anyway, this is hardly the first time names have been reverted. Mumbai, Kolkata, Thiruvananthapuram, Chennai....

Bengalooru

It has simply become a craze all over India to name in the regional way. What about Hoobally(Hubli) and Belagavi(Belgaum)and Kodagu(Coorg)?

by M.M.Singhal on Nov 01, 2006 05:19 PM  Permalink

I totally disagree. You made new cities & provide new names. This change of name creat lot of problems like

exports,imports,change of stationary,communication,change in computer language,std codes,reindexing,record keeping etc.

Our politicians are so stupid that rather than spending their energies in uplifting people of India, they indulge in silly things like changing the names of cities and roads.

Hi readers!
It has to remain Bangalore. These worthless politicians & beaurocrats are taking us back to stone age for their own gains. The whole idea is a bloody gimmick to gain political milage.Leave Bangalore alone atleast. Its one of the very few Indian cities known abroad and respected for what it is.Bengalooru, the name itself sounds like a remote village.

I agree with this.

I am from Bengalooru, now every part of the world rightist activities are increasing and this small measure is only to please the extreme elements of the society. I support this decision as new name will give my city some sort of lost glory/history.

Every one should respect the sentiments of the local culture and tradition in this flat wired world where more people work outside there country/city of origin. Including me.
