What a waste of time and money. What are these politicians trying to prove?? Bangalore sounds good enough. We should be improving the spirits of India not regional flavours. WAKE UP GUYS!! What has been done is good its always for the good. Tomorrow! We will say we want India to be named BHARAT/ARYANS/DRAVIDIAN
I'm happy that the government of karnataka has taken this initiative of renaming some of the cities.
We indians have no respect for each other and this is the reason why outsiders will be made to feel like they are outsiders as they don't come to bangalore just in search of a career, but they also bring their culture and tradition and slap it on us.
Wut a funny name! and the people will call themselves bengalu-ruins? pun intended.
With the infrastructure going down this is surely an amusing distraction. besides, no one knows what kind of ego or pride it satisfies by making Bangalore city to bengaluru village. What kind of localisation security scheme is this? I will never visit Bnagalore again if this is the path these guys have chosen to adopt.
already I can read the phonetic difference in spelling in messages posted here.when will these people grow up?
I think its not necessary. I would have agreed if the name is completly different and sounds very english.
This adds so much administrative problems which requires time and money to set the process going. I think we have millions of more problems to attend than these kinds which are important to citizens.
With all due respect I request people like Mr. Ananthmurthy to look raise other important issues than these kinds.
At times, one is left to wonder as to what exactly is going through the heads of politicians? While it all looks like one big political stunt pulled off by some guy who figures this is good enough to win the favour of the local crowd, little does he, or for that matter everybody, realize that it is tax payers hard earned money that is put to an utter waste. Maybe the indian government should insist on politicians paying taxes truthfully and then they would realize what a pain it is. Also, while we're heading to a new era of technology and where India and esp Bangalore has made its way to the global map, these guys want to take it one step back. Call it some weird name, take english out of schools???? What next Mr. Politician? Stop schools completely??? Fellow citizens, please dont let this city fall into the hands of "politicians" who dont even know how to spell their own names!!
It is right to rename it as Bengaluru. Why should we worry about pleasing some one else to change the name of our city. All Kannadigas should support this effort. If not who someone else will try to rename it as some tamil or other names.
Hi, Mr. khalid/Israr/amruth, How do u feel if ur name twisted from Akram to Vikram or vis a versa? do u still keep quite thinking that it doen't change anything of ur personal characters? Isn't the cost worth to regain ur identity? Its a right move to recognise a city by its local territory.
Bangalore may Bangalooru, but for me it will be always "BANGALORE"
In this 50 years celebration , goverment is changing the name of Bangalore .its realy a good move. but it may not so some problem not now,but later it may .
i always like to pronounce the name "BANGALORE " but not BANGALOORU.
I'm not sure what this will change? The infrastructure problems or the traffic congestions... Why not divert attention to where its needed. Bangalore is a cool name so leave it as is.... useless ideas from even less useful ppl.
It has been Bengaluru all the time and it is the most appropriate decision and a step in the right direction taken by the state government. I completely support this change, Bengaluru, Mysooru, Belagavi sounds very mellifluous - great move indeed.
I also wonder some other city names like Hyderabad to Bhagyanagar and Allahabad to Prayaga will get some much needed attention. They need to prioritized ASAP for the over all good.
