Writing as the name is pronounced in Roman script (english language) is a welcome move and should have done long ago. "Bangalore" makes no sense! It is disappointing to read comments that say we should not do this becasue westerners cannot pronounce it! What a load of crap!! Not everything politicians do is bad, they do make some sense at times. rmember, bringing IT into B;looru was also a political decision. I am not a politician, but I as a Bharateeya and kannadiga would like to see our languages and culture flourish on our soil. Thos who do not like it, I have an advice - Get used to it! Nagendra.
Well i say that it is waste if tax payers money. I live in Hong Kong and i always keep telling " Bhir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani".. It is not a need to waster millions of Rupees to change the name, it must be in the heart. I say it is already in the heart of the people. When we speak Kannada we say Bangalooru and not Bangalore. So it really does not matter.
Look at the amount of money that needs to be spend n changing the stationary and how much money the politicians will amass from this deal from Printers and service providers. Our country today is not developed solely due to the corruption in our country by the few politicians. So we need to change them, not the name of the capitals and district names.
Whats in te name?? Is all I can say..bangalore or Benagalooru..the city is always gonna be what it is now..Banglore is already internationally famous ... and I think it wont do any harm in renaming the city. On the other side,the name sounds very tradional,a perfect kannada city..Bengalooru rocks as always !!
it is bengaluru not bangaluru as u have mentioned...it was always called bengaluru...but british could not pronounce it properly...they anglized it...it is good to know that it will be now know properly as bengaluru
This is my city and I will call it what I want. Others....cant you just keep quiet? I will ask your suggestion if I want it. And the author of this piece...who told you renaming does not augur well and who told you people don't like it? Don't you have better business than to keep posting this question every now and then and whipping up passions? Don't waste your, mine and nation's time. Just change your profession.

The estimated price to change the name would be Rs. 2000 crores. Are they making fun. People are dying, coz of lacking resources - It will be changed? n traffic will also change? Best of luck to all Banglorians they wasted there money.
