Bengalooru -Its simply soothing for kannadigas
by Raj on Nov 02, 2006 12:22 PM  Permalink

Its a gr888 feeling to rename Bangalore as "Bengalooru". Especially for the locallites - feel RELAXED.

Just like "HOME....SWEET HOME".

Maybe for others it may sound different but they need to respect the sentiments of karnataka and kannada people. As there is a saying "WHEN U R IN ROME, BE A ROMAN".

nations' betterment?
by m.kishore on Nov 02, 2006 12:19 PM  Permalink

change in any form is fine but the bottomline is that it should be of atleast some benefit and ultimately result in the betterment of our nation. has the renaming of bangalore to bengaluru served any purpose, well well no guesses. just consider the money that needs to be spent in changing from bangalore to bengaluru [for eg : railway stations, airports & where not]. i will keep my fingers crossed.

State governments decision to change name is a great move and they should implement this immidiately. Benagalooru sounds better than Bangalore which gives local flavour for all kannadigas and this is how everybody should pronounce.

Our Bengalooru
by Naveen on Nov 02, 2006 12:08 PM  Permalink

Why we should continue with Bangalore...? From the formation days city was called Bengalooru, during the british rule they altered the name to suite their needs and called it Bangalore. When we have accepted the original names for Mumbai and Chennai etc, why not Bengalooru. This was long Pending. I am really happy about it and its not only me all kannadigas appreciate this.

Bangalooru
by MALAGI on Nov 02, 2006 12:08 PM  Permalink

If Bombay can become Mumbai, Madras can become Chennai & Calcutta can become Kolkatta why not Bengalooru. Moreover there is no change in the basic name of Bengalooru as the city was & is called as Bengalooru unlike other cities where the names are changed entirely.

BANGLore-BanglURE-BanglOORU-Banglur-Bangluur-Bangluru-Banglur
by Raman Selvamurugan on Nov 02, 2006 12:06 PM  Permalink

I suppose, there is nothing to change very greately by mere change of names as names are only our identity, of course, essential too, but one can as well be responisible for finding ways to stop polution and create self diginity by educating our people in keeping our country with a most living atmosphere for the rest of the world. We must be cautious to embark on the feel of identiy since it may fail to proivide a feel of unity rather it may lay discrimination from the rest of the Indian states.
