reservation- ABVP views

ABVP supports quota, but wants "creamy layer"
Supporting reservation for OBCs in elite educational institutions, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), today wanted the creamy layer principle saying financially well-off section among backward classes should not get the benefit of quota.

"Creamy layer principle should be applied to ensure that benefit of reservations go to real backward sections,"

Recommendations of Chinnappa Reddy Commission (which had suggested applying economic criterion for reservations) should be adopted. There should be reservation for economically weaker sections too.

Alongwith reservations, there should be an increase in seats in government medical and engineering colleges, ABVP has demanded.

Terming reservations as a "historic need", ABVP also appealed to agitating medical students to see to it that medical services are not affected due to their agitation.

It also criticised the government for recent baton-charge on protesting students at governor's residence here.

Students

The political parites target only students.
Why not there be a reservation in every other field?
There should be reservations in number of the seats in the parliament. There can also be reservation among the security guards of all the ministers. there could be reservations in Military forces.
I wish the government would request the government of other countries also to give reservations for indians planning to study abroad. Perhaps then India can successfully change its name form SECULAR to RESERVER.
I know all this a mockery. But they dont realise this.
All students regarding caste or creed will work hard only when there is no reservation at all, because then the deciding factor would be their talent and one would have only one way to improve their talent- hard work.
These political parties want to win votes of the OBC's. And education being a good disguise for that, they are playing all possible tricks. (They(the ministers) are scared to introduce reservations in their security cordon. )

hi
According to me there shouldnot be any reservation. A community can not grow through rservation. if really government wants to do something for the backward classes then they should try to remove their povety, not by reservation but by education. they should provid education or them and atlest one out of hundred will able to compete with others in good institutions. in this case govt. can do all help to him to grow up. for that i think no one will oppose.
thanks

Strange not to hear any single word from the mean opposition. I wonder how all Ministers can have same thinking. Not even a single person to oppose quota. In reality all are greedy of votes. Even many ministers belongs to OBC. They travel in luxury cars and fly in helicopters. Does their children need reservation ? More ridiculous is when we hear about reservation from our higly educated Mr. President and Mr. Prime Minister. Shame on such ministers. I wholly support the fight against reservation. It should be only for poors, not on the basis of castes.

Reservation
by Venkata Prakash on May 29, 2006 10:16 PM  Permalink

Politicians planning to impose reservation in higher education must come forward to implement 33% reservation for women in parliament.

Any way this reservation will not affect them as their children will get good education in foreign and come back to India to enact laws likes this that will affect only lower and middle class peoples but help them to continue their family politics.

These laws willnot help the needy persons...only the OBC's in creamy section will get advantage. But this is a tactis to target the OBC vote bank.

I'm not against reservation but it must be given to the right person i.e., Poor rural students.

But if reservation is made available to all peoples of OBC, then it will take 100s' of years to eradicate the poverty of OBC.By that time poverty will fall upon the FC.

Shall we be ablle to compete with the world if merit is to replaced with caste for admission to professional courses and higher education? We will have to shed the vote bank policies of the political parties which have grown weaker over the years and left with no exciting agenda for wooing the voters for coming into or for remaining in power. This is true more for the old gaurd who have played their innings for a long time and now create space for the younger generation to take command of the national issues. Please have pitty and do not plan to hand over the country to them in a no-cure condition. All the political leadership of all the parties above 75 years of age should retire and hand over the reigns of the party to younger generation of leadership. Is anybody hearing to set an example?
