The unfortunate part is that the rein of the country is in the hand of these politicians which think about themselves rather than country.
I believe Manmohan singh is the wearest prime minister India has ever had. due to this every indivodual mionister is singing inhis/her own way.

Reservations
by dm on May 25, 2006 12:39 AM  Permalink

Just pass a law saying only SC/ST/OBC should become PM/President/CMs/Ministers. All these bloody politicians, will feel the pinch. Just pass a law that Congress party should have only SC/ST/OBCs as President, let Sonia resign. Nobody will become MPs/MLAs unless they are SC/ST/OBCs then these idiots will feel the heat. Long Live India!

The Next Partition of India - Reservation
by vikas on May 25, 2006 12:25 AM  Permalink

Hi

My 2 cents on the reservation issue..

One probable solution to resolve the reservation issue....:). This will not only increase the reservation to 50 odd% for the non-general category but could also satisfy the general category..

The current model of reservation system says that..

" If a non-general category individual gets sufficient score to get a seat from the general category he will be allocated a seat of the general category and will not be considered for a non-general category seat"

This means that if there are 100 seats to be filled and there is 50% reservation for non-general category people and if 10 people from non-general category get marks sufficient to be in the general category then the no. of non-general category people in the batch of 100 would be 60 people.

Govt. should have 50% reservation for general category and remaining 50% for non-general category with a clause like above i.e. if a general category individual gets sufficient marks to be in the non-general category then he should be allocated seats from the non-general category.

Best Regards

UPA = United Pathetic Assininity
by Mukund on May 25, 2006 12:25 AM  Permalink

I'm really surprised that the PM, who has good education from one of the world's best schools, fails to understand the assininity of the quota system.

If they truly care about upliftment of the "backward castes", then they should provide them ECONOMIC support at the SCHOOL level, and have reservations at THIS level ONLY upto class XII, so that underprivileged kids have the SAME opportunity available to them at a REAL level playing ground, which can only be at the SCHOOL level. With such a move, the "backward" folks can NEVER complain that they were denied a level-playing ground opportunity to compete for merit-based elite colleges. Reservation system only ENCOURAGES a "hand-out" culture closely tied to incompetence. Merit should never be compromised in premier educational institutions. And reservations at POST-GRADUATE level??? Please give me a break!

All these idiots should ask themselves the basic question: Will they ever allow their family members to get cardiac surgery done by an incompetent quota doctor who would never get his degree without the quota? If they do, then it only tells me how much they truly "love" their family :-)

The Next Partition of India.
by Harry Rakhraj on May 25, 2006 12:23 AM  Permalink

What Mr.Kak says was succinctly expressed by a protesting medical student:"Till yesterday we were only friends and class mates.Today we have rudely woken up to the fact that some of us are not so equal.Overnight everyone knows everyone else's caste. We now see them as threats to the fruits of our merit & diligence."

Whom to blame ?
by Raghu on May 25, 2006 12:23 AM  Permalink

Felt really sad after having known the quota being implemented or would be shortly . First of all is this democracy ? . Who ever planned this do they really know whom are they helping? . Backward classes? .. Who are the backward classes? . Do they have any vision? . Whom to blame? .. The inefficient opposition? .. or the reckless government? .. The so called best economist who happens to b our prime minister ? .. or
Greedy HR minister ? .. or the great sanyasin ? .. we have our youth fighting for equality ... and our great ex Prime minister does not even utter a word ... Should i laugh or cry when a person from planning commission says 80% of the Indian population forms the
minority in India who needs reservation ? . Does anyone who is part of this great planning think about the repercussions? .. And what if they continue this quota raj with the private sector? .. Would any industry sustain? ... Why don\'t these protectors of the people open their own educational institutions or a company and do what ever they want to do with that ...
The great decline of our education would start now ....... Guess even God cannot save india .

What is BJP doing
by Naresh Bhatia on May 25, 2006 12:22 AM  Permalink

At this crucial time of the government doing some absurd things, what is BJP doing? Why does not BJP and other organizations support the student movement. The students are sacrificing everything for the good of the country.

Reservations - Partition ?
by Anon on May 25, 2006 12:18 AM  Permalink

I think Kak is quite right.

Rather than suffering under the anti-Brahmin, anti-Hindu, anti-freedom and dictatorial and imperialistic Republic, the Brahmins and the meritorious should separate and form a separate state. That can be a world leader on the international scene. The Republic has only made us worse, 80% of the population live on less than $2 a day, despite our immense talents which are curbed by the Republic.
