Out of 23 supreme court judges minimum 20 judges should be from Dalits, OBC's and Muslims, according to the basic tenets of proportional representation. Now it is only solitary one. This is the main reason for the present MONSTROSITY in Higher Judiciary.Present stay of 27 OBC reservation is an example of it.
The only long standing solution to this vexed question is the adoption of principle of proportional representation to all segments of Indian society, in the appointment of Supreme court Judges and High court judges .

Cheat us once. Shame on you.
Cheat us twice. Shame on us.

Enough of this for 7000 years.
Our party is offering a separate state/nation to upper caste who are less than 10% of India.

Hinduism is the root of all evil in India.
by m on Apr 01, 2007 04:02 PM  Permalink

1. It explicitly creates irrational hierarchy among Indians which is against Article 14.
2. Parents covertly train their children to coerce other children as per the above hierarchies.
I deplore any other religion that does this.

Reservation
by Krishnan v on Mar 31, 2007 09:43 PM  Permalink

It is not right to say that the upliftment of weeker sections in USA has taken place without reservation. There has been special drive to make their participation visible in every sphere of life. Statistics says that such actions helped to create even millions among blacks during the past few years .As a person lived in UK for few years with all certainity I can state that there is a special drive to make the ethnic minorities and other similar groups to participate in the governing process in various councils (something similar to our Zilla Parishad)even there.
While the feelings of meritorious students who gets sidelined for the cause of social upliftment of weeker sections are understandable, we should accept the fact that there is no easy route for undoing the historical injustice meted out to them by enforcing a caste system that gave a distinct advantage for generation , what we call as merit today. Let us accept the fact that it is an inherited merit derived in a unlevel game played for centuries.
However the real issue is not reservation. The real issue is the social inequality practiced in rural India. Social equality in villages is as important as economic inequality. With liberalisation , the openings in Government and other public sector establishments have considerably come down. Telecommunication , Airlines, Banks and many other prospective domain of opportunities for reservation have been privatised giving merit the first chance. . Unless caste is removed the issue of reservation cannot be resolved. The proponents of reservation system from VP Singh to Arjun Singh all ensured that their kith and kin always got tied their nuptial knot only with a matching caste. They do not want to compromise in this area. Rather they want the system of caste to remain with all their love and affection to low castes ; so that they could derive political mileage out of such a condition. Do they have the courage to contradict this ? They are too keen to distribute the seats of premier educational institutions and gain popularity, which in any case their kith and kin would not qualify for!

Reservatiom
by Madhukar on Jul 07, 2006 07:34 PM  Permalink

Without any reservation of any kind, the Blacks who were poorest and uneducated, economically backward in USA. have come up in all field of USA e.g. education,
scientist, politicians etc. What the Govt. did there was giving full support econocmically, socially. It took some 5 decades for the lot of people who were deprived of all the benefits of the then Century, to come to the standard of whites - a ruling community and now they do challege everyone in any field.

There was and is no reservation of any kind for this lot to come up.

Why in India we should not follow up this mode of transportation socially from the weaker section to prevelleged section of the Socity. By doing this, we may not create any hatred based on reservation.

What we need is the unified Society making progress in every direction and the State would encourage and assist the economically backward people of the Society not based on any caste or creed.

We have reservatiosn in Educational field and Govt. services for last 50 years. That has created devision in the Society and it is being maintained by the Politicians to gain their votes. The Political lot is not interested in the uplift of poo

Why not have reservations for politicians also
by Naren on Jun 01, 2006 10:27 AM  Permalink

Lets ask our politicians to have reservations in the parliament and assemblies first. Would be interesting how they would fare with that. We can see how many of them would sacrifice their seats / posts for such a ""Great Cause"".

reservation- ABVP views
by sunil on Jun 01, 2006 12:29 AM  Permalink

ABVP supports quota, but wants "creamy layer"
Supporting reservation for OBCs in elite educational institutions, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), today wanted the creamy layer principle saying financially well-off section among backward classes should not get the benefit of quota.

"Creamy layer principle should be applied to ensure that benefit of reservations go to real backward sections,"

Recommendations of Chinnappa Reddy Commission (which had suggested applying economic criterion for reservations) should be adopted. There should be reservation for economically weaker sections too.

Alongwith reservations, there should be an increase in seats in government medical and engineering colleges, ABVP has demanded.

Terming reservations as a "historic need", ABVP also appealed to agitating medical students to see to it that medical services are not affected due to their agitation.

It also criticised the government for recent baton-charge on protesting students at governor's residence here.
