Legislators.... Demi Gods!!
by Tejas on May 24, 2006 11:40 PM  Permalink

In what seems to be very clear that Congress can go to any extent to save their leadership. The timing, the nature of bill and the way it was passed raises serious doubts. Moreover, our legislators (Demi Gods!!) are abusing their authority to abase the very intention of our legislators to keep the executive and legislators Seperate. Further, these bills seriously undermine the judiciary which clearly held that no office of profit for MPs.

An MP has an enormous responsibily; adding of giving more offices divides the time and their attentions resulting in neglect of their constituency. Is for this we elect these MPs'? Its time we think and think hard.

Office of Profit Bill
by t.s.uma rao on May 17, 2006 01:11 PM  Permalink

Dear Sir,

In what is a clear move to save Ms.Sonia Gandhi's post as the Chairperson of NAC, Congress has bulldozed its way by passing the Ofice of Profit Bill in the Parliament.

The resignation of Ms.Sonia Gandhi which the Congress is playing up as abig sacrifice is nothing but an eye wash and should not fool anybody.

That the Prime Minister was a puppet in the hands of the NAC Chairperson is a well known secret.

Now all other persons like Ms.Vatsayan et al will be
brought back to their posts with "honour".

Is there no end to the politics of opportunism played by the Congress?

Office of profit
by Abhinav Kaul on May 17, 2006 03:22 AM  Permalink

It is a matter of shame that the previous law which was very clear about what amounts to office of profit was tampered with.I think that any amendment to constitution should only come with a 2/3 majority of the house.
Being a congress supporter ,I feel let down by the party.

Office of Profit

Our respected constitution is always amended, so the actions of our politicians are protected. Now Mrs Sonia GAndhi is back in Parliament, why not Mrs Jaya Bachchan. So much of public money was wasted in re-elections of Rae Bareli, just for nothing.

Leaders, when they tak oath, they say that they will abide by Constitution, but once in power, they see that Constitution abide by them. Who respects constitution?
