The progress made in real terms
by K.Mahadevan on May 21, 2006 01:50 AM  Permalink

The main reason for the slow economical progress like per capita, need to be focussed on population explosion.Whatever extra effort is put by the government is eaten away.In addition to above the politicians who have taken lead part in the country are not put so much effort except a few. With more than 50 years elapsed after our independence,we are very much ahead in corruption and alike profession. The reason for this, even though our economy is improving it is concentrated on few.The bcakword educated class never attept to uplift backword even their kith to kin.A backword community leder like Lalu simply barks Muslim -Hindu and never improves the backword clss in Bihar. The reason he knows well ,if Back word improved eduationally , economically, mr.Lalu will be driven out of Bihar. Similar case in respect of Orissa,Karnataka ,Tamil Nadu ,Andhraprdesh, MP.UP and most of the states. It is only when Backword class and OBCs understand that they should put hard effort to come up and take the advantage of Government schemes without allowing the politicians to grab then only our country will flurish. It is no use to have statistical analysis. Eliminate evil politicials without electing .

pledge
by gita on May 19, 2006 11:11 AM  Permalink

Considering the above arguments, is it better for the SC/ST/OBC to be still known by caste in present day liberal society
isnt it better that every body takes a pledge that they will not refer to caste for getting benefits or depriving benefits and will not let anyone divide the humanity on caste.
the socalled lower caste should forgive the so called upper castes for the sins of their forefathere and the upper castes should take the pledge to reinforce upliftment of the deprived sections of present society to their best.
Erasing castism from the the minds of all will enforce the social justice and not forcing the reservations on the society which will be counterproductive and will ignite intolerance and its sequelae

caste discrimination
by sunil on May 19, 2006 10:53 AM  Permalink

I have suffered a lot based on this casteism.
I am from OPEN(GENERAL) category.
I had secured 87.33% in SSC(Mumbai)....PCM=289, but due to castes, and reservation , i could not get admission in good colleges.
Almost half of the total seats were reserved for CASTE(SC/ST/VJ/NT/OBC), remaining for TEACHERS son,DEFENCE,SPORTS,FREEDOM FIGHTERS children, GOVT EMPLOYEES children, etc.
I could see students from caste category who got admission even at aggregate of 50% , whereas the GENERAL category list closed at 87.00 % .
Is'nt this biasing and injustice to students from general category.
Also reserved students were to pay less fees and get reward if they pass the exams, but there is no such thinks for students of open category.

This is absolutely weird and disgusting.
people are divided among thenselves.
This will create be dangerous in near future.

Discrimination
by sunil on May 19, 2006 10:43 AM  Permalink

We talk of EQUALITY, JUSTICE , etc, then why reservations for certain people.
Also why there is discrimination betwen 2 people.
Why someone should be treated based on his caste.
Everything should be on Merit and not based on caste.
This will create hatred among people of different castes.
This reservation creates injustice and is biased.

Universal Reservation
by Ruby Naushad on May 19, 2006 08:00 AM  Permalink

We must welcome the government's decision to reserve certain seats in higher education/professional courses for SCs/STs and OBCs. This, however, should be subject to minimum condition of eligibility for admission. Reservation is like giving medicine and special diet to a sick child in the family. If the people of India constitute a family, it is our national duty to provide special opportunities to those who have for historic/social reasons fallen behind in the race or suffer from any disability. Indeed true spirit of social justice demands such reservation to each identifiable group in proportion to their population and degree of backwardness.

by prashant s on May 19, 2006 02:51 AM  Permalink

In my class of medical school at Mumbai All the reserved category students were richer than my family. Most were 10times richer than me. My roomate had best available car in market-scorpio at that time, his father was 1st class officer&earned millions,I dont know How?
all of them are still richer than me.I always got more marks almost 20-30% more than that Roommate.I am still poorer and he is still becoming more rich by the Day.
My fault I born in Open category family, whose father worked on farm almost 365 days a year!!
God atleast u could have given me birth in Reserved category so that I could have been rich!!

Reservations in the military
by Voice of the Reserved Quota on May 16, 2006 04:59 AM  Permalink

India should start having reservations in the military as well for all the minorities and backward people. After all, they represent the country as much as the rest. Why should only the upper caste get the benefit of the free housing, cheap alchohol and flashy clubs. As fas as protection of the country goes, let everyone die by the quota as well. Why should the upper caste only be allowed to have martyrs. It does not matter if the best people are protecting our country or not. After all justice is served when everyone has the equal opportunity to be killed by the enemy or be taken prisoner of war. Though I would recommend that all the unreserved quota be first used as a human shield to protect the underprivelleged in our country. If we lessen the percentage of the unreserved, we will legitimately have more room for the reserved. That way no one will be left to protest.

- Reservation Raj Zindabad!
