For the N-deal of course
by Arun on May 17, 2006 12:24 AM  Permalink

It is a well known fact that as time passes by, the threat to our beloved country's sovereignity is becoming more pronounced due to our two notorious neighbours. I have two words for what India should do - nuke em and say 'sorry' to the UN(U.S). We will face 50 years of sanctions and isolation but it will be a peaceful 50 years and ever after.

A deal which is in Indas favor
by sg on May 10, 2006 12:29 PM  Permalink

I cant tell you after reading both sides of the story. But I would hope that India di not give up its ability to develop and test nuclear arms specially when you have close friends as Pak and China. This two are the least trust worthy nations in the world. And have a record in doing so. So India can sign the deal but keeping its core sector untouched or being inspected by any international agency.

For N-Deal
by Harish Dunakhe on May 09, 2006 11:59 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Dear Dr. Athale,

You said it correctly that India has always sent its culture not soldiers. Previously, I was always surprised at India's stand of not opening war with its rivals in situations of crisis and terrorism. However, your article has clarified my doubts about our diplomacy.

Here are few things:

1) We can never win a war with a country. We can only seize it.

2) Terrorism, of course has to be fought with deterrants and arms but peace will always prevail.

3) America has taken long time to realize this. I think, we should lobby more on India and Benefit India to USA.

4) Indians are friends! - To everyone. This will be confirmed with N-Deal.

I appreciate Dr. Athale for putting his views and calling spade a spade especially China.

In deed, one in India should feel that with N-Deal is just an extension of mutual efforts in establishing good relations between India and USA.

Regards,
Harish

For N-deal or A; Qaeda
by imtiyaz Dar on May 09, 2006 11:26 AM  Permalink

There is not much difference in approach of Both America and Al Qaeda.

Having the mighty power American have brought distruction to many a parts of word. Same would have been done by Al Qaeda given a fraction of Americal military ight.
I don't see much difference between the two of them.
India should be careful of Bot AlQaeda and America as
they didn't spare Germany, Japan, Iraq .....
Indiand should draw lessons from past Americal history, the wrinting is clear "We rule the word our way" " we make new roads even if needed bulldoze the old friends"

Highlight the business value
by Mahesh Sub on May 09, 2006 01:15 AM  Permalink

Seems like India could press upon the financial value of the nuclear deal with the US.

India is definitely doing an excellent job of highlighting the merits of the deal on several other aspects.
