Shame on India
by Shyam on Apr 03, 2006 02:50 PM  Permalink

India and Indians ought to be ashamed.China is today on the brink of being introduced to the G8 - the Great 8 developed nations.
Where is India ? India is now sitting on the stool , and made to choose between USA and the People's Republic of China.
This is due to the utter lack of vision of India and Indians.
There is no point in sweet-mouthing India always.
China's achievements , if you can take the example of Olympics , etc . ,has been due to the fact that billions of dollars had been funded into the infrastructure and other aspects of sports (I remember reading this in the South China Morning Post). Now they are among the top 5 in the Medals tally.
Where in those tallies does India , with a population of 1.5 billion figure ?
One of my friends gave me the unfathomable excuse that India is a "hot country" , and hence sports does not find favour here , and people do not consequentially have stamina for sports !
Now let us add this to the list of acievements of Indians - they have mastered the art of self-pity and lame excuses.
The Arab countries , and many others are known for extermity of summer temperatures , the UAE , Saudi Arabia , etc have hotter temperatures.

hostile neighbours around
by ahv on Apr 01, 2006 07:31 PM  Permalink

We are surrounded by hostile neighbours. How is this balance of power system going to help us in tackling them? Can we get back our lost territories to China and Pakistan? Will this help us in driving away illegal Pakistanis and Bengladeshis back to their nations? Will the Chinese stop claiming further territories from us? Will all these nations stop provoking us further by interfering in our internal affairs thanks to this balance of power system?

Excellent analysis and beautiful exposition. Our leftist friend and so called torch bearers of "secularism' may very kindly ponder over their lopsided and blind approach. It is time for these vote bank politicians to shed their old outmoded thinking always guided by the dictates and needs of others.Let them learn and start think and support only thiose which are in the best interst of our motherland irrespective how it affects others however dear or near they may be. This alone can be our pragmatic and sound foreign policy.

Dr Subramaniyam has really done a good analysis to explain the balance of power. Our strategy should be build keeping these equations in mind.

But still we need to wait for N-Deal and UN permanant seat to play a far superior role with lot more assertiveness in international power game.

Regards,
Hari
