It is terrible that the media has compeletely forsaken Tibet issue and DalaiLama. I doubt if many people know DalaiLama himself.Shame on Indian media for not creating an awareness among the general public.
It seems that India hopes to live with beijing a peaceful neighbour for ever.Thoughts cant be any more wishful than this.It is pertinent that India involve itself indirectly to help Tibet and DalaiLama.
What I do not understand is that china and India are invloved in border talks!!!!!!!!Absurd,it sounds.Being in a negotiation with china is in itself is a show of weakness. How can china claim the land when china herself "invaded" Tibet.(The land we have now as Ar.Pradesh was a part of tibet long time back..)
Our first generation leaders seemed to be in a hurry to earn goodwill of our neighbour at the cost of our security.(By accepting tibet as part of china).
Tibet is not a part of china and we need tibet as an independant buffer nation between china and India.Amen.
(To digress, why did not India divide J&K into a few parts??)
Two points Mr. Arp has made out strike me. First, that India should deal with China in a strong position and the second that it has to give up its ostrich like attitude towards Tibet.
Tibet has practically been finished and nearly 'Hannified' The proposed railway from Beijing to Lhasa will ensure that the Hans will move in an increasing way to Tibet. There is complete silence on the part of our govt. But China cried hoarse when we built a road from Leh to the border!
As for talks media has been giving headlines of a possible 'breakthorugh' in talks between India and China. We have to take this with some trepeditation. If the government sucumbs to giving up Aksai chin, it will be the end of the day for the government. Even a great leader like Jawaharlal could not carry the people with him on the china front. On the same analogy of Aksasi asking for Aksasi chin as the only link between it and Tibet, we can make a claim on Bangaladesh as well for gigving us tracts to give us continguity!!
Hopefully we should pray the government and the border negotiators keep our long term interests and not be after some 'breakthroughs' momentous or otherwise.
