Absoulutely true Rajnath JI. You are very right in pointing out, that earlier even the primary students knew the names of the great freedom fighters, now half of the college going students can't recall what was Rowlact Act, or why did Gandhiji repeal his Civil Disobedience. Forget about it, many cant even tell the names of Rajguru and Sukhdev if asked who were the others hanged to martryrdom along with Bhagat. The next generation of Indian probably wont remember even Gandhiji. Here in Sweden people respect India because Gandhi was born in India, and I feel proud. And we Indians dont care about the sacrifices of those great people who got the freedom for us. Ofcourse, Ganguly and Dravid cannot be role models. Honestly I believe, we and the new generation Indians really need a role model, a HERO (can also be a woman), who is a brand for Indianness, India and Indians. Hope that happens soon. Even better, we as the next generation parents can put the right values and morals in our children and everyone of them is a small HERO in his her own right and sense.
"Film stars and players can be sources of entertainment but never ideals." I dont agree, what your looking at Mr Rajnath is their profession not their character or personality. These are the quality that one consider when you make them your Ideal.
I don't understand why politicians cannot leave our heroes of the masses alone. In a week's time questions regarding ideals, even ethnicity have unnecessarily arisen. If one can draw motivation and inspiration from any other person(not necessarily a celebrity) so be it.Our present generation will never have freedom fighters of any comparative stature to those we remember,so where is it wrong to follow persons who bring pride to our nation through sports, fine arts or any other field?
if this fellow had known whom to follow as role models, why doesnt he follow them? did bhagat singh or mahatma gandhi ask them to be corrupt? If at all he isnt corrupt, did they ask him to simply watch when other workers of his party were corrupt? Did they ask him to go and demolish Babri Masjid and foster unwanted hatred between Muslim and Hindu brothers?
Dear Mr.Rajnath, I think you have lost it, both heart & mind, such a statement nullifying the lifetime efforts of two great sport icons for our country shows the wrong mindset of the ruling class, which is clearly the reason for our backwardness. Bhagat singh & Co are all fine, but our generation has not seen them, depending on history to enthuse a generation is foolishness. As far infosys and israel are concerned i think politicians are to learn more than youth because they stand for how leaders have made a change.
Is this a quote from Rajnath Singh or is it a creation of the journalist, who actually fit rajnath's description of today'e youth. I never heard of Baba Jatin, a freedom fighter. i read about and respect Bagha Jatin, Jatin Das.
What has happened to our age old politicians? Instead of focusing on development, they had started to make issue of now ideals. Why can't be Dravid and Ganguly be ideals. They had every right to be ideals, they are great leaders, and had lead from the front.
I don't deny that Bhagat Singh and others are not great. They were great and entire nation respects them and their deeds.
Ideals are chosen from day to day life. Keeping history as ideal doesn't helps much. We should be able to bring living examples as ideals.
Well one thing is sure, you Mr. Rajnath Singh you can never be ideal for anyone. What had you done for the country? Just collected votes by making dirty politics. Had you lead from front, never. Just look at the state of UP. I belong to that state, its in terrible condition. Instead of focusing on development, you are still eager in playing dirty politics of gaining votes by bringing unnecessary issues.
Maybe you are too old. This is new generation of youth, and we have every right to chose our ideals, be it Dravid, Murthy, Atalji, Sachin, Sania, Aishwarya and so on. Just think whether you would ever be ideal to anyone, then make noise. Its easy to make rubbish talks.
