Hi, I don't agree with Mr.Rajnath! Anyone who wears national colours and serves the nation in any form can be a idol.
I think, if he is particular about freedom fighters, my first choice would be MAHATMA. He showed the world something unthinkable and he was the true leader of the masses. Bhagat Singh, Khudiram Bose and Baba Jatin were freedom fighters but had no complete vision. I am sure there are many other names which can be mentioned ahead. I hope Rajnath does not add nathuram godse to his list!
What does Mr. Rajnath mean by saying that cricketers are just a source of entertainment. Is he forgetting that these are the people who are sweating out in the cricket feild for their country's pride. I have great respect for our freedom fighters. They have sacrificed their lives for our country's freedom. Now that we have freedom, heroes like Dravid & Narayan Murty are helpng our national development directly or indirectly. India is a cricket loving country & every win boosts the confidence of its citizens. That is the very spirit of sports. Saying that the current national heroes are not role models & only our frredom fighters are role models is wrong. Youth should learn from the freedom fighters & also from the current heroes that whatever they do, they should excel in that & see to that the county's name is elevated. Jai Hind
I completely agree with what Singh has to say on the film stars and the cricketers vis-a-vis the software giants like Infy.Though it is a bit illofical to draw parallels between the two, I definitely feel that though the cricketers and the software majors are both money making machines, companies like Infy have generated wealth and made many middle class people crorepatis whereas the cricketers and the film stars have only fattened their bank accounts. It is definitely true that today's youth needs to have role models to the likes of the Murthys and the Tatas rather than the Dravids and the Pathans and the Khans if we really want our country to prosper both economically and ethically.
Why not?To me Rahul is a perfect sporting ideal, they are playing for the respect of country. Moreover he shows lot of concentration, commitment, hardwork and determination towards his job-which can be learnt from him.
If the youth of this country is just interested in heroines i am sure the so called Infosys will not gain such a huge name in the international market. We do know the names of cinema actors and sports person so as with freedom fighters. If we talk about freedom fighters the first name that should strike on every mind is Gandhiji,It was an embarrassment for not mentioning the name of THE FATHER OF NATION.
No, Never. They are only sources of entertainment as Rajnath said.Ideal persons are those who live andfor the nation and the welfare of humanbeings Venugopal
I agree whey u say Sourav is controversial and cannot be a role model. But look at Rahul Dravid! Quite impressive, consistent, cool, calm, collective, natural leader, no air on his achievements, entertaining Indians and other global citizens apart. Do you think that the spirit in Indians is hight because of politicians! When we think of politicians we feel depressed, our morale would be in a low ebb and we fail to draw any encouragement from such people.
But when people like Dravid performs, brings victory to India, or when companies post good results and India inc. moves on to acquire companies elsewhere in the world, then, the confidence of the Indians ooze and they tend to perform better.
Stop that nonsense talk of yours and stick to your dirty politics!
Each individual has some good points. It is the approach that we take to identify them. You can see how Saurav supported his team members all the time. He was there all the time with them supporting them. This is a quality which we should take from him.
Rahul Dravid -- The wall, Consistency in batting a great temperament and solid will power and such a calm and cool personality. These are all the qualities that a role model should have.
So it is not fair to say that they are not role models. There is a lot to learn from each individual. It depends upon what you take.
Being a politician, a person in India has a good image - It is next to impossible. And who will be the ideal for youth can not be decided by an Indian politician at any cost. If a clear image, educated, well established people would say this, then it can be the matter to discuss. But, in this case, it is needless to read or discuss about his comment.
