Where did the writer get all these confidential reports from?
by S Frank on Mar 07, 2006 10:01 AM  Permalink

Can I ask who are the sources for this information who have stated? All of the information you have stated and specifically the information about \"american officers corroborating Afghan intelligence reports\" would surely be classified. Please try and indulge in responsible journalism rather than such speculative imagination which I can do better than you if I wish. However, thats not how this public forum should be used and Rediff sadly has got very incompetent editors as has been observed time and again.

Sri B Raman's appraisal of Pr. Bush' Doubts of Musharraf.
by Dharmendra Goel on Mar 07, 2006 09:38 AM  Permalink

PKL. March7, 2006.
Journalists like Mr B. Raman though well-informed
on details of what goes on in international inter-actions in South Asia, really are often given to wishful thinking, that Pakistani Gens and ISI have
been cleverly running with victims of Zehad , Al-qaida and Talibans round Continents ,while in their backyards of Waziristan ,adjoining Azad -kashmir
as well south Pushtoon hills in Kandhar conniving
with the the self -same terrorists,
It is a difficult balancing Act of Pr. Bush to keep Pakis tugged to US War on Radical Jehadis , and Osma's continuing threats to its own internal Home Security since 9/11. They see no alternative to Gen Musharraf as yet in this war of US interests in this
sensitive central Asia ,and Gulf-Oil ,they can sync words and Policies to save American GIS and gain Oil from Middle-East ,only such Chameleon like compromises with double -crossers like Pakis and their less than transparent Generals D.Goel

US realisation though a bit late
by Rakesh on Mar 07, 2006 09:34 AM  Permalink

Musharff is nothing but a showman who wears his heart at his sleeve. When comes to actual action, he is scared. Good intentions when not followed by actions exposed him and US is realsing it though slowly

Why Bush was frosty in Pakistan
by m jutti on Mar 07, 2006 02:46 AM  Permalink

This was bound to happen and it is only a matter of time before the American Administration gets rid of this very clever and shrewd General who is perhaps losing a game he himself created.

An obvious flaw in your article.
by Balaji on Mar 07, 2006 02:00 AM  Permalink

Sometimes I have wondered from the tone of the article, if rediff writers actually get some tip-off or if they write out of imagination, this article makes me much more cynical. In the 3rd or 4th para, the writer mentions Kabul gave a detailed report to Bush on March 1st. Couple of paras down the line, the writer mentions that Bush made a statement before he flew to New Delhi (Mar 2nd or 1st Night lets say). Then he goes onto say Mushraff heard these comments and ordered for quelling and dates the event to Feb 28th?????? How could Mushraff knew Bush was going to talk about this and pre-order a military action??? bizarre or anachronic..

May be Mushraff was far-sighted?? Only way its just yet another media built sensational story.

Sir Very apt assessment of the ground realities. As always Mr.Raman deserves all the praise for giving the right facts unlike other writers in your website who are politically tainted with substantial tilt towards BJP.I hope you will encourage more writers like Mr.Raman on your website and enhance your own reputation.

JP says How about divide and rule?
by JP says on Mar 06, 2006 11:24 PM  Permalink

How about divide and rule? Powell comes ....gives Pakistan NATO staus ..... Bush comes.... gives India Nuclear fuel

In the first instance make India feel insecure, in the second make Pakistan feel insecure...

To top it pay some writers (agents) to tout the benefits that accrue for India. But keep fighting.. The British did it 100 years ago now the U.S!!!! Keep the Indians and Pakis occupied...

Need good leaders who can plan over the next next 20 - 50 years!!!!!!!!!!!
