The insincerity of General Musharraf has been well chalked out - u stopped short of referring to him as a joke !
While it is a fact that the general has not done anything significant with regard to shutting down the madarassas in Pakistan's NWFP, we need to understand the ground reality - this region has no law or justice to control it. We ridicule Bihar as being an epitome of lawlessness. But the NWFP is much worse. Pakistan has absolutely no clue or control as to what happens in this barbaric area.
So it is a sense of helplessness which has tied up the General's hands, rather than his lack of desire to do something about the region.
My observation : Mussharraf has always been playing double-cross with the anti-terrorism forces and the terrorists.He cinningly made lot of promises to both only to use them to his advantage. One gives money, the other increases to his nuisance power. Afghanistan based American personnels' reports, Mr Karzai's reports and the evidence-supported Indian reports have exposed Mussharraf's bluff now. Terrorists' are getting more and maore demanding towards implementing promises Mussharraf made to them in liu of creating nuisance in India and Afghanistan. Anti-terrorism global forces want Mussharraf to do strictly what they think should be done now without any further delay under any pretext. Mussharraf is caught in his own web. Mussharraf can not fool all the people all the time. I think it is high time Mussharraf clearly dicided to be with one of the two forces instead of pretending, and act accordingly. That should dicide Pakistan's future too.
Musharaff forgot the age old saying: You can fool a person all the time,all the people for sometime but not all the people for all the time. Looks like it is the time for Mush to go. skj
I forgot to add, if Bush can and does read sometimes, then he would do himself a great favour by reading "Who Killed Daniel Pearl" by Mr. Levy, he would then have been frosty a couple of years back and probably never been a buddy to a terrorist.
1. The americans take cognizance only at fear to their own lives. 2. It requires a crony like Karzai to make them believe what India has been facing for 50 odd years. 3. Bush found it rather convenient to take as stipulated the committment from Musharraf, which itself was questionable, so basically indicates that the biased judgenment was due to vested interests. 4. In Kargil the pakis outsourced their war, not a single dead was accepted back as a paki and the US saw and knew that, unless they were willing to prove they were chinese, yet they went ahead with sops and more sops for the great efforts musharraf was apparently putting to end terrorism.
I hate to think of it, but just imagine if pakistan were to have been in india's position on h1b1, the american flag would now have also half moons for every star and looked green, does the honorable president of america realize that? does the senate sitting out there india bashing on kashmir to justify sales of arms to pakistan realize that?
Dear Sir , Musharraf has never been sincere to eradicate Taliban . He was forced to join hands with American to save Pakistan which he has done very claverely otherwise fate of Pakistan would have been like Iraq .The man who nurtured the Taliban will not eradicate them . As a show of solidarity to Americans , he has taken some action against Taliban who does not understand politics and circumstances .Talibans were also trying to get rid of Pakistani supremacy and exert their influence. Musharraf just wanted Taliban to toe to his line .
