LTTE asking for peace
by Samit Mathur on Jun 30, 2006 05:09 PM  Permalink

We should get ahead with the time. If they feel that they made mistake, its okay.

Further, they should shun killings and then come to the negotiating table, not killing the top commander of Lankan army and raising their regrets for killing Rajiv Gandhi at the same time.

LTTE has to show the world that they have renounced their armed struggle and should shun the weapons like IRA and after this India should start taking part activly between LTTE and Lankan govt in the peace process

Samit

LTTE group should not be apologised and there should be no support extended from indian goverment. They are a violent group and should come under law for rigorous punishment.

india helped ltte to nurish to talk the language the srilankan government understand better after 30 years of failed peacefull protests and so many agreements. it is unfortunate the ltte and the tamils had to fight the IPKF (innocent people killing force). it is time india forgive us as a bigbrother and bring peace to tamils by creating tamileelam.

Never forgive the LTTE terrorist group
by Shiva on Jun 30, 2006 04:47 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Nobody should forgive the LTTE terrorist group, they are not trust worthy, Rajiv's killing can never be pardoned. LTTE should surrender their leader Prabhakaran immediately and then talk peace. the world should unite to wipe out groups like Al Qeeda and LTTE.

You reap what you sow
by Lalith Kumar P on Jun 30, 2006 04:44 PM  Permalink

The Tamils in the Srilanka have been oppressed for years. They are basically Indians having settled there for years. The tamils retaliated the Sinhalese oppression. LTTE has become the face of the genuine/poor tamils in Sri Lanka (by hook or by crook !). But, today, this is the only organisation left to represent them.

Indian foreign policy has always defauted- be it Nehru to refer Kashmir to UN, or releasing dreaded Terrorists for hostages or yielding to the Chinese aggressions. The IPKF by the celebrated Mr.Rajiv (!!) is no different. He reaped for what he sowed. Mr.Rajiv should have tried to sort out the Sinhalese aggression rather than supporting them.

All these problems erupted out of basic lack of understanding of the root cause by the Indian Government. When compared to Sinhalese aggression over the poor tamils, any act of LTTE is only justified. When the entire judiciary is biased against the Tamils, and the Sri Lankan Government managing an excellent PR with the world, what would the poor Tamils do with all odds against them.

GoI should therefore not make kneejerk reactions and try to sortout the issue considering the larger interests of the poor Lankan tami

LTTE should stop violence first & ask for for pardon
by Joseph Veigas on Jun 30, 2006 04:34 PM  Permalink

A sinner should stop sinning & ask for pardon. Same way a murderer should stop killing & ask for pardon, then there is a meaning. They murder day after day, how can one believe they are sorry for the past sins like killing our beloved leader Rajiv Gandhi?

Dont forgive LTTE, but help the Srilankan Tamils
by Sathia Moorthy on Jun 30, 2006 04:24 PM  Permalink

First of all, Srilankan Tamils are people of Indian origin just like the Indians in FIJI Islands.

As an Indian Tamil, I would not forgive the LTTE for killing Mr Rajiv Gandhi. Is it justifiable for the wrong the done by IPKF. Though Rajiv had sent IPKF for the benefit of the Tamils, he has not sent them to rape the tamils there.

It is an open secret that any army will the do same thing whether it is in their home country or in foreign land. So, Rajiv had good intention in sending the IPKF.

But sending IPKF, was politically a wrong decision.

At the same time, the srilankan Tamils are mostly Hindus and they are all originated from India. So, we have to support them, when they are in trouble and if it is genuine. We all know, that srilankan tamils are treated as second class citizens in their own country.

shall we do the same thing to Muslims or christians of India because they belong to a religion which is not originated. If we do this to them, the they will also start the same struggle what the LTTE is doing in Srilank.

Concludingly, We should surely support the srilankan tamils but surely not the LTTE.

why dont we think about arriving to a solution
by pkay on Jun 30, 2006 04:24 PM  Permalink

why dont we think about arriving to a solution

Dear friends,

I have reading through most of the threads for some good time now. Its all clear that LTTE is a terrorist group, they killed civilians, on the other side Our Army has some part in ruining ppl there.

Why dont we think of a solution now. Singhalese or the native srilanks are also people like us.

The only solution looks like giving treaty and providing LTTE,an Eelam as they ask.

Why dont we as ppl help doing this. We should agree there is mistake happening at both ends. Be that India for that matter.

So, the only likely solution is to provide Eelam for ppl there and give a solution to this problem. For this India needs to help Srilankans and LTTE to arrive at solution. Why dont we support that ?
