I agree with Claude
by Srini on Oct 20, 2009 11:20 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I love my India, so does Claude. I hate the same ten things as does Claude. Any Indians who fails to see our shortcomings objectively is a traitor wishing to block the development of India. We can develop only when we honestly analyse our shortcomings so as to rectify the same. I am writing this nearly after three years becuase I could not resist myself from thanking Claude for his love for India.

just 2 more things

by the way i paid Euro 20 to see The Vatican or Eiffel tower, 10 euro to see the terrce of Duomo in Milan 70 euro for a gondola ride in Venice and you say Rs 750 to see one of the 7 wonders The Taj mahal as expensive!!! Indian government should charge even more or Governments should charge less in Europe for their international monuments before saying such a thing and by the way Indian govt charges less from Indians because they dont want to deprive ordinary local citizens to see their own country's heritage!!!
Secondly, We have many national holidays but they are always optional institions can permit these holidays at their own descretion..but atleast we do not have 2 day weekend which in fact means 53 more holidays in a year which the west tend to ignore....

Well I don't know how much you know India becoz well in govt sector and PSU even saturdays are holidays. And you seem to forget the fact about regional holidays.
Also i went to see london and major attractions were free/subsidized for me(student). I just dont see why you have a problem that people hate india, we are democratic country and we can have our own opinion. It is not that i praise west or stand by the above argument. It is just that we cant justify that corruption, nepotism etc. are correct.

Things I feel sorry about for the West

I guess Claude you have jotted down 10 most astonishing facts about India and I being an Indian won't take any umbrage at it. But I would like to comment whther you think political decisions even in the developed world are always right..I dont think so in fact your judgement wud have made me believe so if i had not traveled extensively to Europe and the US. From my own experiences i can tell how currupt system or people could be in the developed world. I was mugged in Spain the moment i landed there. when I went to the Police i found I was not the only one lodging a complaint against mugging..every where I traveled in South of Italy people told me to be careful of my belongings as there is mafia there. Locals told me not to show my Gucci bags on the street as no street is safe enough in italy. I had never seen so many mad people on the streets of India the way i have seen every where in Europe..weird people shouting or talking to themselves..In countless instances i had been cheated around the US and Europe..I think these countries have no moral system or karma to curb them from wrongdoing even though people have enough to provide for themselves..In India people most of the people are poor so this place should have been the place of dacoits and robbers but this is nt so...very small percentage of these people are currupt if you compare this ratio with western countries you'll find more people currupt in lower sections of the society..

Things I hate about India
by Guest on Mar 30, 2009 12:40 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I've been living in Bangalore for the last 2 years and I so far HATE it. I have friends from India but they are from places like Kerela and I love them. Well, thats because they are exposed to the international world. I just cannot stand the people who grew up here and never left this place. They have too much love for this place, and that is good, but it gets so irritating because they never want to admit the bad things about India and call us racists for telling the truth.. The women are even worse because they are so damn rude and selfish and does not have any respect for you. I hate my maid and my the hair dresser I've visited 2 days ago for being so pushy and hard headed. I want to leave and never come back... I get so sick of this place. =(

I HATE delhi/gurgaon
by Guest on Mar 09, 2009 02:50 AM  Permalink

Maybe I need to get to some rural area in the south in order to appreciate India. But I am Indian and at first I thought of buying a place in Himachal (near impossible to buy a farm there with all the red tape) and now, I am just thinking of getting back to north america, INDIA (as much as I have seen) SUCKS! especially having a cleaning lady that likes to butt into your business all the time. I have never met such rude, insensitive, aggressive, selfish and obtuse people in my life (except hicks and most people from jersey/nyc area).
