hi first of all i would like to appreciate u for writing abt India though it was short it explains the whole scenario!!!! thats really true sometimes But..But... hey its easy to point out.....rather than rectifying it......apart from writing columists it would have been better if u could have atleast made an effort or atleast tried to counter one of ur dislikes.... obviously when you don't like certain things abt India then its due to people and ur one of them so the article should have been titled "10 things i dont like abt myself'....no offence meant plz.....and last but not least Frustrations are penned down to satisfy one's self thats the easy way i hope.....if people have sought only this type of way then today we would'nt have got independance instead there would have been number of columnists penning down their frustrations rather than doing something......
ur article is true for most of the things. but rather than looking at bad things its better if we focus at the good things,India is a beautiful country.
the author has rightfully pointed out the points which does hamper the image of India but i would like to disagree on 2 points - first, regarding Discrimination against the white tourist! its the policy of the state government and its a major source of revenue for the states. if any forigner doesnot like it, then he need not visit it. for them its peanuts as what compared to their country.
secondly, about the holidays - the number of \\\'holidays\\\' taken for a myriad of family \\\'problems\\\', (marriages, engagements, funerals, etc.), cultural, local or religious festivals (of all faiths: India is secular). he must not forget that in India we live as a close knit family and not like the so called western nations where if you stay with your parents, its a shame, where parents don\\\'t care about children and vice versa. its really important for us. this makes us unique and many foreigners particularly like this aspect of India. he must give due respect to our faiths and beliefs.
the author must understand that there are cultural differences between nations and should accept it as it is and dont make a fuss about it.
I fully agree with Mr Claude Arpi though I might prioritise differently.
How about adding the unreliability of people and systems in India ? I think those leaders who wish to deliver and who rely on them are always exaspareted in the end. I believe as a rule Indians including Elite yap a lot but deliver too little ...Barring few exceptions honesty of fulfilling their promises/statements seems to be seriously missing in Indain society.
My personal long standing experience with German society makes me believe that this is a serious flaw with Indian society.
after all these trauma in India, what the heck makes you visit India. Red tapism is to its height in France as well. I must appreciate if you are French typed all those english words, as you very well know how foreigners are treated in France who don't speak French. Well if I start with France I would have atleast 25 bad things about French culture. Indians keep calm it does not mean they are stupid.I could be contacted at rishiraj_n@rediffmail.com if you really want to discuss these 10 details and my 25 details about France. Now if you have the guts pen down to me, dont run away like red tapist ( you know what i mean)
