Its very sad to know that the terrorists say that they are doing it for jihad and people of Kashmir but eventually its the people of Kashmir only who are suffering. But there should come an end to their sufferings and GOI should take strict steps to Fight Terrorism.
This has reference to your report on hardships faced by shikarawalas in Dal lake. Apart from terriorist attack on tourists there is another major reason for the decrease in the tourists to J & K. The central govt. LTC scheme to its employees provided a special package to Srinigar by Air from Delhi. Many employees of central govt. visited srinagar on LTC by making use of this special pacakge.(I was one among them). But the scheme was valid for only two years period and ended on 15th june 2006. This has resulted in the decrease of tourists to srinagar. The central govt. can extend the scheme so that the tourism activity in J & K will pick up and people there can earn their lively hood.
How can you expect tourists to risk their lives to feed shikarawallas ? If the shikaras and hotels are run 100% by local hindus , it will at least bring back the tourist. This will create supporting opportunities for muslims in long term . Successive local Govts failed to ensure safety of local hindus and tourists.
Perhaps President's rule can also help wipe out terror and create BPO opportunity in Srinagar.
