Our President have more powers but they were not effectively used in our independence history.... these things are happened very rarely. Rule is Rule..Rule for all......but today what happends... we are passed the GO's for some people.... this is the one of the selfish things............

Thanks Dr Kalam/ we all r with you
by Vinay Gupta on Jun 13, 2006 02:06 PM  Permalink

Though I was disappointed by some of the inactions ( like predident rule in Bhiar, Navin Chawala case etc.) of Dr Kalam but I am happy now that he has asserted himself at the last.

If this govt once again send the bill to him he should resign instead of signing it.

We young people look at him with great hope and we all are with him.

Presidential Powers
by Mahendra V. N. Alornekar on Jun 13, 2006 11:27 AM  Permalink

The President has taken a bold stand. He has pointed that the legistators should not try to change the legislation when it comes to suit their own requirements.
This is a bold stand by the President of India-who has proved that he is not mere a Rubber Stamp of the Parlament.

Presidential Power - Assertion of-Regading
by Kunuthur Srinivasa Reddy on Jun 12, 2006 06:50 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

How come that the President did not assert his power to respond to the students' representation to him not divide them based on caste, religion, region and other considerations as it happended in case of OBC reservations? How the children can dream of India's prosperity when they are divided by force of governance? Science should not suffer from divisive forces.

Yeah...

he should have done one of the two

1. he should have dismissed the striking doctors

2. He should have cancelled ALL QUOTAS - from NRI Seats, Management Quota, AIIMS Quota, Payment Seats and seats got by the virtue of a relative being in high post

Office of Profit.
by A citizen on Jun 12, 2006 03:18 PM  Permalink

The office of profit controversy is totally irrelevent. Our MPs have to live also and for this purpose they must engage in gainful occupation. It is too idealistic that our MPs must serve the society without any means of earning a decent livlihood.
There should be no bar regarding their occupation. This old rule is used for purely partisan purposes. In fact the law should be repealed with retrospective effect.
The present bill is discriminatory and must be re represented or totally scrapped. The OoP is being used to banish or disqualify some MPs preferentially.
