OBC reservation
by Sandip Darji on Jun 09, 2006 01:46 PM  Permalink

I am very happy reading Mr. Gautam.

There are so many youngsters like me are wondering this 5 years politics. After all after next 5 years they have to have another topic for rule.

I have several questions.

I had some cases with my friends. Frineds of same school, same percentages, same caliber. One became doctor with reservation and second BSc. Why?

Is our system for primary education in rural areas are sufficient/ satisfying??? First of all government should make plan for education in rural areas. In cities OBCs are having same culture same schools. Why they should ask for reservation when they are also coming from same infrasture?

What I think they should cancel reservation from each and every area. What is our fault? We can't atleast dream for governemnt job. For admission in 10 + 1 there is reservation. For Graduation we have reservation.

Most of NRIs are from upper caste because they are not getting opportunity for good study and government job here.

Cancel reservation from each and every place an then you see the quality of work in each section.

Atlease as an Indian nationals we also have right to serve from cream and get excellent service from government.

quota for OBC
by CHANDRASEKAR on Jun 09, 2006 01:46 PM  Permalink

CASTE.....forward, backward or schduled is disgraceful thing to exist in any country which wanted to move forward with the abundant talent available in ALL THE CASTES.! The reservations is in existence for the last 50 yrs. and if the backward community had not progressed...which is a myth anyway...then who is to be blamed.? why the third generation had to be discreminated for what they have NOT done and what their fathers and forefathers had already sufferred and paid for bY NOT getting their due place in education, employement or govt. facilities provided to OBC'S. THIS DISCRIMINATION HAS TO END...NOW !!!.Otherwise......? waqt bathayaga!

Reservation
by Parag Sen on Jun 09, 2006 01:45 PM  Permalink

brilliantly said, professor! in my own life i have seen few friends of mine who had the pride to walk away from the reservation benefits and happily undertook the grind! they came out with flying colours and today are doing extremely well professionally. their self-esteem is deserved! i salute them. Speaking of others, who walked the "backdoor entry"....they are somewhere lost in the wilderness....not even one who has achieved of some success to even be mentioned of.

I wish people like you and me can join hands and start building an India, where we can be who we want to be...not what the politicians wants us to be

What should we do
by Rajesh Kumar on Jun 09, 2006 01:45 PM  Permalink

To Professor Gopinathan:

Why don't you advocate for abolition of Caste System. what is the importance of Caste System. Just Advocate for vanishment of Caste and Reservation also. Make available good schools, faculty and scholerships. Higher Education may be made less costlier. Ensure availablity of long term loans at concessional rates.

Castism is blot on our society and it provides denial to scheduled caste people even after having best of quality, aptitute and attitute. But in India, only Caste matters, hence, politician are enjoying and general public in fighting on denials because of caste system and on reservation issue.

Agree with you rajesh.. Problem with people like Mr gopinath is that.. they start to think themselves as the role model for everyone under SC/ST/OBC without relaizing the reality of the situation.. They cry and a cry for a problem, But will never have a solution for it. They want to be seen associated with people who are protesting so they can feel better about themseleves in majority.

Why couldnt he suggest remove the cast system just like you did? No he could not have because this cast system now gives him a chance to be feel superior among his peers who belong to SC/ST/OBC.

Soln is to remove cast system then provide people benefit over the poverty level. Hope our politician's get this one day.

Chitta, Swadeshi Swami is right. Don't bother to fly from Singapore and vote, else, how can "BRILLIANT" & "INTELLIGENT" people like Mayawati, Arjun Singh, V.P.Singh etc win elections and herald in a rule of prosperity, progress and intellectual upcoming in India. If the present brilliant policies of "reservation" are not implemented, how else would hardly-working and dumbos like Swadeshi Swamy get into the IITs and IIMs with 30% marks.

If, only the meritorious 95% mark holders who have slogged all their lives get into IITs & IIMs then India will start progressing and that would mean the end for fools of Swadeshi Swami's clan. So, for heaven's sake don't bother to vote. As long as fools in India outnumber the intelligent guys, it is Swadeshi Swamy's day!!!

Great article... but wuold be wasted
by Anand Chavan on Jun 09, 2006 01:41 PM  Permalink

Its a great article... but alas... its not gonna make any difference... people reading this article and applauding it like me, are not the ones who are invloved in politics.... Those who are involved are playing with the nation as they want.. just to remain into power for years and make as much money as possblie. Let the nation go down the drains...

Until and unless educated and unbiased individuals like us join politics this is not going to change

OBCs shd come forward to join Main Stream with Pride and Dignity and NOT Thru Quota.
by Secular on Jun 09, 2006 01:39 PM  Permalink

The article is well written and it is expected that the OBCs shd come forward to join the Main Stream with pride and dignity, by discarding the Quota all together.

Indeed the so called OBCs are already well placed. One can find OBCs in all political and bureaucratic levels. They have good brain and by hard work they can prove equal to any so called forward community.

However, the Govt must ensure that the economically weaker section is provided with free quality education at the primary and secondary level. Proper education alone can uplift a community.

Unfortunately the Govt has failed miserably to provide Quality Education at the primary and Secondary level, in the rural and backward districts of the Country, where school is being held in a dilapidated building, with leaky roof and with a very few teachers.

Hence the Govt must focuss on providing Quality Education as a first priority, instead of confusing and misguiding the OBC youths by throwing Reservation Carrot, which is designed purely for targeting the gullible mass for building up Vote Bank.

The true Leaders of the Country shd expose this Hidden Agenda of the present Govt. The people shd reject Reservation.
