Presidential Battle
by gautam mukherjee on Jun 06, 2006 10:16 PM  Permalink

The Government is expected to be more sensible and respect the presidential desire which is having more public confidence. For a person of Manmohan Singh's stature this is most unfortunate.

The President is RIGHT.
by S. Rajiv on Jun 06, 2006 09:03 PM  Permalink

Kudos to Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. We hasve a wonderful president, much much better than all who held the post before him, and maybe much better than those who will follow.
He is RIGHT, and I hope the Congress will understand it and follow his advice.

India needs a Dictator !!
by Vikas on Jun 06, 2006 03:22 PM  Permalink

Folks, I think its time that India is ruled by some Indian who is strict, selfless, posesses a scientific mind and a deep vision for the future of India. I think only our current President Mr. Kalam fits in this scenario. These politicians are a bunch of monkeys for whom this idiom in hindi fits "Bandar ko mili haldi ki gaanth, pansaari ban baitha". Moreover, their behaviour in Lok Sabha (as seen on TV) and else where always reminds me of this simian species. I regret to say that even present PM has miserably failed to rise to the occassion and has acted merely as a puppet. As for the BRITISH PARLIAMENT, they are no better than us. The utterances of our current law minister show that he is incompetent to hold this office anymore. Generally speaking, successive govts. have back stabbed us Indians time and again. No one cares for India as a whole.

I have a feeling that these monkeys will again send this "Office of Profit" issue as-is back to the President. There may be some changes but the end result will be same.

Office of Profit & the Parliament Members
by Amal Chaudhuri on Jun 06, 2006 01:37 PM  Permalink

The article is very well thought of and personally I think that given complete authority to our Prime Minister to decide on the issue, he will go with the President. But the leading lady, her satellites and their side kicks will always try to throw a spanner in the wheel because for lot of them holding these apparently social & philanthropic positions helps them to command lots of material benefits under a very convenient and benign cover.

office of profit
by Sam on Jun 06, 2006 10:22 AM  Permalink

If India will continue to have shameless and corrupt unworthy politicians like what we have now, I don't know how we are going to acheive our goals. Bills like these are the need of the hour. I wish our great, selfless, wise, hard working, people's President could be re-elected for another term.

It is great to have such a wonderful President.

But then he is like a Diamond on a Dunghill.

Nobody knows his value.
