There is only one way to solve the problem is to Quit Mumbai. Life in Mumbai is never going to be easy for anyone or any better. I lived in Mumbai for 3 years and promised myself that I was going to get out this hell hole. That is precicesly what I have done. Left Mumbai for Good and I can not explain how my life has improved immensly. The moment people leave mumbai and move to smaller towns in India you definately will have a quality of life that is better.
In smaller town you have an existance or rather a presenece. You can improve things for yourself but in Mumabai your life is in the hands of others which I think is a hopeless situation. My life is now much much better. I do not commute to my work but walk just 10 minutes to get there. No traveling problems. I have set myself free.
In India we expect somebody to clean up our mess as long as it happens we will continue to live in that mess nobody is going to help you my friends nobody. Save yourslef of much trouble and quit Mumbai. That is the least you can do for yourself. Remember you've got just one life.
i dont believe any of this. i believe only maharashtra cm, who asked me not to believe any media reports. you are all liars. on karan thapar's show cm vilasrao excellently answered all questions by telling brilliantly that 'all such reports are a lie'. i think he is fully right. who knows mumbai better than its CM? i think mumbai is a wonderful place to live in and there are no slums or rain problems. its all the creation of media and individual persons like you. pls dont waste my time.
The present government is doing all these sort of transport blocking activities for a better tomorrow, but that better tomorrow never will happen because if the govt doesn't knows how to manage the "little drops" of resources now, how can we (mumbaikars) ever imagine that the govt will be able to manage better tomorrow with the "mighty ocean" of resources, so we have to manage all on our own, but we must ensure that we keep paying hefty taxes to the govt on time for running our city.
When I reached platform, the announcement being made was that due to some usual failure at Borivili station, trains are running late by 10-15 mins. The train started at 8pm and should have reached Mira Road by 8:53, instead it was stuck between Santa Cruz and Khar at that time. After crawling for 1-2 minutes, it will stop for 5-10 minutes for no reason whatsoever and reached Mira Road at 10:30pm. Trains on slow track fared better and atleast 10 trains passed our "fast" train and reached destination hour before us. There were no trains on adjoining tracks or ahead, why cudnt they divert to slow track or move ahead? Seems that WR staff will never learn and must be sacked or fined heavily to make them perform even the normal stuff.
This was the first shower of season and that too not heavy by our standards and yet life came to standstill. Seems that Govt has pocketed 80-90% of the budgeted 1500 crores in their pocket and this year will be even worse than the previous one.
Nothing ever improves in Maharashtra, we will become the most pitiable and poorest state soon. What's our "young dynamic MP" from South Mumbai doing about it?
The Mumbai waterlogging problem is here to stay. I believe the main reason to be the following: 1.Indiscriminate landfill operations to make land for constructing towers. 2.No outlets of adequate capacity to let the flood waters into the sea during hightides. 3.Blocked gutters failing to remove waste water. 4.An outdated network of drains and spillage built by the British now woefully inadequate. It is not only the Mithi river but many low lying water channels that have been severely encroached during the dry season. The life of the people in these encroached water channels beds is hellish in the monsoons. Yet people breed and live there to eke out a living in the city to everyone's peril. One of the solutions is also to rehabilitate those who have encroached into these channel beds elsewhere and like the Mithi, widen them allowing the storm waters to flow into the sea. Landfill operations around these channels must be stopped. So also the building activity around. Like the roads we need to develop these waterways to the sea, else there is no end to the monsoon horrors year after year.
I totally agree with this article. Although nature cannot be predicted and its strength cannot be matched by mere mortals like us, is it absolutely necessary to make matters worse by digging up all possible roads in the most crowded and congested areas. I fail to understand howcome all the roads leading to seepz, which are already in a bad condition are dug up. They have been dug up for valid reasons, I agree, but couldnt this be done well before monsoon or postponed to after monsoon. Is it just a case of mismanagement or deliberate intentional disastrous managment? All of us would really appreciate if we get answers to these simple questions. We heard that there will not be a 26/7 this year apparently there will be 5/6 this time. A very very very disappointed mumbaikar.

I agree with my friend that Mumbai is in a bad shape after the first showers of the monsoon. Last year was a catastrophe when lots of people died in the rains. As promised by the state government that this year Mumbai will not face the same problems we can see that their promises were just an eyewash. Most politicians in India are ruining this country. We had Arjun Singh playing with the futures of the students and now we have the Maharashtra government playing with the lives of its citizens. We as the citizens have all the right to complain about the things that are just not right. Where is all the money which should be spent on improving the infrastructure of the city going. We all know where its going, in the pockets of our great LEADERS.
We the damned middle class always muddle. We know that no Government ever works, leave alone fulfilling their promises. Still we forget all these perils and vote enmass the same junk people; we had a woderful opportunity to ahow our might when re-election was hel for Sunil Dutt\'s MP seat. Then we were in a different world altogether and voter his daughter (a thorughbred novice)as an MP. We squeal when it comes to problems galore, but allow some oe or other of these ilk to drive us like a shepperd. We deserve all these and more for our short memory and forget/forgive attitude. Long live Mumbaikar and his/her problems!
