India should never give any military support to Srilanka. Already innocent Tamils are slaughtered by the Srilankan army. India should help to create a federal system in the island which would be a good solution. Sinhalese monks are the worst and clearly they are not only anti-tamil but also anti-hindu destroying all the Holy hindu temples in Srilanka.
Srilanka's North and North East must be divided into seperate country or a seperate autonomous region with independent powers to handle its economy/politics/social issues under the overall purview, but at the same time have the power to reject or revise such things.
I am not sure why India is hesitating to support Sri Lankan Tamils (may be they cannot support LTTE) in this case. Tamils are the closest link that India has through tamil-nadu and they are the people india know too!. India should support tamils and make sure they get the desired recognition in their country.
Moreover, the then tamil-nadu kicked sri lankas ass very badly (through cholas, cheras, and pandyas) anyway, so they should and cannot think they are better than the tamils in the first place!.
India should not repeat the same mistake of giving millitary support to srilanka as it did in the past. Tamils are being suppresed in their country and they are fighting for their right for survivial. Giving millitary aid at this stage would lead to more choes and to the arrival of more refuges to Tamilnadu. I hope India learns from its past mistakes and ask both the parties to find a solution to the confilict through talks.
Indian leaders should know that Devided Srilankha is good for us. This can be achived only if LTTE is strong. India should not interfere now. LTTE has the capability to take care of itself and this new rowdy President. Once this goonda President takes care of LTTE he will trouble India. So it is better that we do not interfere.
India should say 'pox on both houses' and steer clear of 'interfering' in the SL-Tiger imbroglio. The SL govt has been hypocritical and disingenuous in their pursuit of 'peace' and totally unwilling to deal honestly with the wary Tigers because thier main source of power and the chief obstacle to peace, are the Buddhist Clergy, who who are vociferously vehement in their opposition to any deal with the mostly-Hindu Tamil 'interlopers'. Clearly, unless Rajapakse can secure their support, no amount of talks will succeed in achieving anything, good-intentioned Oslo negotiators notwithstanding. That's the message India needs to send.
We do not know the mind and character of a third person as much as we know about ourselves. We know for sue that the Sri lankan Government can not trust Inida , consideraint its present composition. Sri Lanka should sort out its problem by itself or shoud resort to the help of some powerful third party which is not nearer to it and has not in any way connected to its problems , but woud certainly work against terorism. It should aniot involve any party that will have an axe to grind in the prolems it is facing . This will apply to all countries . Just as we do not want the interference of a third party to mediate in our problem, we shall not interfere with the problems of others too , particularly when we we have parties with confklicting interests and fissiparous tendencies .We do not have a strong Government to take any respectable and effective decision even in any our matters. Why should we poke our nose elsewhere?
