The short answer is No. In reality the strong a vocal section of Sinhalese chauvinist control the political stage in SriLanka. The SriLankan president Rajapakse's has to pander to these forces. The Tamils are clearly a small but successful minority in SriLankan. Srilanka an 80-90% majority has no concept of accommodating the minority. The SriLankan army is a classic example of the Sinhalese chauvinism. The Sinhala majority has systemically eliminated Tamils from all forms of representation in the government (Army, Police, civic government -The Tamil MPs if ever elected are treated as dummies, if they dare speak out they will be eliminated (simply killed) in the name of encounters) And have been in the process of eliminating them altogether. Where else can one see a govt. that "carpet bombs" its own people the Tamils. Where else can you see a army/police that goes out and shoots every able bodied person it lays its eyes on. LTTE leader Prabkhakaran on the other hand is somebody who believes violence can solve everything. He believes he and only he is the person who has the right to speak up for the Tamils any body else who speaks be eliminated. In the midst Tamils suffer.

Don't be too proud about Indian brave soldiers, they are brutal killers, killed innocent 65 people in Jaffna Hospital, all of them were Doctors and patients. LTTE is as their best now, India should shut everything keep quiet, learn from the lessons, warning you LTTE is or more organised and powerful than they were 10 years back, most importantly have a achievable task, Tamil Eelam.... Indian and brainless brahmins shut everything and watch the space... Tamils will rule their own land with any cost
Indians should mind ouy countrys poblem, not others problem

India should not trust Sinhales and their governemnet. Sinhales are such a pack of dolts. They neither have courage to fight LTTE nor willing to give the rights of Sri Lankan Tamils. They are the worst guys in the world inflicting ethnic conflicts in the Island. Indian governemnt might have experienced much bitter things with Srilankan matter. So it is better to keep our fingers crossed in this matter.
India should neither support LTTE nor the Sri lankan govt. as we have burnt our fingers very badly supporting either one at some time or other. Crafty Jayawardane played on Rajiv Gandhi's in-experience and cunningly made the indian army fight the LTTE & 100s of brave indian soldiers lost their lives. Crook Premadasa was no better. While openly supporting India ,he was arming the LTTE against the Indian army behind our back. The net result was that poor Rajiv Gandhi, the youngest prime minister ,was conned all the way to the grave by both these sri lankan scoundrels. The LTTE is no better. Tamilnadu supportd them, tooth & nail & they profusly thanked kalainger Karunanidhi by blasting Rajiv Gandhi out of this world , in tamilnadu!! The net result ,DMK was thrown out of power paving the way for selvi Jayalalitha's autocratic reign & the revival of brahminism in tamilnadu. So let these folk solve their own problems. We have enough problems ourselves, with people being blasted away now & then as it is ! As the saying goes " Once bitten twice shy" lets keep away from both these un-trustworthy neighbours who will again stab us in the back if given another opportunity.
I know one thing for sure, SL can not be streached much. We are such a big country and we are doing nothing. This is not a way to become superpower. This is a way to become superfollower. Imagine if SL goes to UN. India will be reduced to just a third world country. More over, India has a plan, SL has a plan. Only thing required is to sit and remove differences to make it workable. May India succeed in being a real big brother.
Having created the tigers a more appropriate question could be whether sri lanka can trust india.fot that matter does any of indias neighbours trust her? Regarding the separation of the north and the east it seam to be the most appropriate answer as the majority of the people in that province does not wish a merger. This again was forced on sri lanka by india for its own plans to haegomonize sri lanka.Funnily some of the eastern province tamils do not wish a merger. That is why Karuna revolted.Partial analysis of reporters unfortunately will only make more people cynical about the media especialy the indian media among its neighbours.
Although in appearance the Sri Lanka prez looks a reasonable man he is in actual fact an opportunist. Past records will show. During the elctions that got him to power, he enlisted the help of the LTTE TO prevent the general public in the north and east from voting the opposition candidate. So now he is calling the LTTE terrorists. When he sought support from the LTTE what did he this of them? Additionally the prez is not a statesman who keeps to his words.
Can India trust the Sri Lankan President?

A government which cannot try to fight crossborder terrorist (named freedom fighters by pakistan) blowing out the parliment the comercial centers, bringing unsteablity in the country has no moral right to help the srilankan government.. That to at the cost of indian soldiers firing bullets to whipe out the so called small presence of indian culture & tradations in srilanka... even if we do help srilankan government thinking LTTE as terrorists (europe banned LTTE saying they are terrorist), nobody in this world would stand by india as indians & indian policies are not born in USA.... sending troops for srilankan government will lead to a full scale war in the island resulting refugees in to india...All & all whats the gaurnteee that present srilankan government (formed of sinhala sentiments) would not harass the people when it regains control over northern & eastern part which is the main reason for this bloody civial war..
