Prince of India - ????
by Sanket on Jul 24, 2006 12:56 PM  Permalink

I am quite happy as finally the life of the kid was saved. But I was extremelly dissappointed with the way Indian media handled the whole topic. Today Zee news and Star news are nothing but an 'Entertainment Channels' than being a news channel. I respect NDTV who did highlight the news but didn't raise it to be a national issue. Zee news commercialising the whole thing and harping on the point about how instrumental it has been to save the kid's life is ridiculous. People like Raakhi Sawant who would do anything for a publicity stunt calls up Zee and singing a song made the issue extremelly frustrating. It would have been apt if the channel would have focussed more on the bomb blasts victims families who have lost their bread earners to ensure atleast their lives are economically stabilised. But I guess all of 'us' are so heartless that we have already forgotten the incidence and have discovered the 'mamta' in all of us in the latest 'crispy' news of Prince. Why can't Zee / Star come together and take onus of releasing some responsible news. I honestly feel media should take up more serious issues else more families would want their kids to fall in such borewells to get publicity.

Careless Attitude
by Satish Singh on Jul 24, 2006 12:01 PM  Permalink

Its heartening to know that the rescue operations were sucessful, but there are numerous instances of such careless and callous mistakes by Government and Private contractors, leaving the manhole open without warning signs is most common... has any action initiated against the contractor who was responsible for this... these guys should be heavily fined so that they take ample precautions in future.

Who will punish the culprits
by sunil dahale on Jul 24, 2006 11:14 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The 2 lakh rupee reward has to go out of the pocket of the person responsible for digging the 60 feet hole and not public money. Is any one going to punish the culprit.

Prince

Really great work done by all rescue workers. this is the case i heard many times. i do not understand why these bore well diggers leave the place without covering the holes of borewell they tried, this is total negligence of borewell diggers. strict action has to be taken on these borewell companies. they have not learnt lesson after having heard so many cases like this. anyway god is great, hats of to all rescue workers, they really did a great job.

Prince is a very brave, really as i have observed his face in news channel, he was not crying, really he he is a very strong boy. i think he has passed a big hurdle (kantaka) in his life, that too on his birthday. i pray almight to give him a good health, prosperity and bright future, i hope, as he has passed kantaka (big hurdle),he will live like a prince in future.

once again, many thanks to all rescue workers who did a tremondous job in rescuing prince.

I have been watcing this telecast live. Some of the ministers have came there which intrupt the rescue work Some Army perosns are pushed back. These useless ministers come to mke name. and the persons who have stuck there lives to save prince are pushed back. I think these ministers are to be send in to rescue that boy if they want to make fame. They were given seats to sit were as the army persons are standing for more than 28 hrs. And that Police officer who said that nothing can be done sould be suspended.

Salute to the Army & the thanks to the News channel becz of whom a life was saved.

5 yr old saved..?? good business by TV channels.!
by Bhavin on Jul 24, 2006 08:53 AM  Permalink

Great effort from Indian army. kudos to them. Looking at the loose soil and the complexity of the issue it was a great great successful effort.! Cheers.!

But the issue was too much politicized by the news channels and other media(s). Dont we know how many children of the same or even lesser age in India die/killed of various reasons like hunger, blind beliefs or simply come under local trains while playing?? Why was this issue politicized so much? Okei, accepted, this was a marathon task - but news channels were giving live coverage of this for hours together! Have the media people thought of giving a live coverage of entire families who have not have had a piece of bread since days, months together?? Cover them live on TV, those beggars we see on the signals. Or those people who are innocent but fall prey to maoists or cross-border terroism/war..!! Why dont u cover them? Coz it doesnt sell like hot cake as it was done yesterday?

If it reflected that "we are one" feeling amongst indians, it did give business to those TV channels. Didnt it? Its always making money from others personal life for news people.Invest that money for the better of inhibited villages - they will bless

Great Job
by P R Sampath on Jul 24, 2006 08:41 AM  Permalink

Dear All,

I salute to the Army men for rescuing a boy from a pit after nearly 50 hours. What was important that all the efforts taken by the concerned authorities paid off.The boy Prince showed exemplary calmness and that could be one of the reasons for survival. This also made me thought that few days ago there were bomb blastings in which so many innocents were killed and yesterday there were lots of peoples prayed for Prince's life.Although Prince is not from an aristocrat's family still all the necessary suport was provided to save his life. My hearty wishes and congratulations to everyone who were involved in saving his life.

With warm regards

p r sampath
