Can we ever bring change in our mother country ?
by krishna on Jul 18, 2006 03:16 AM  Permalink

Hi all, With all pain I am questioning those authorities who have blocked those blogs, why have you done this? Again you are killing those interests of individual citizens. I dont think we as youth can bring change in our mother land. Hats off to the responses earlier. Thank you all, but we can never bring change.

Dr. Gulshan Rai is a fool

Why are the fools in charge?

>>CERT-IN's Director, Dr Gulshan Rai, said he was unaware of the problem and would not be able to respond "off-hand" ... and told this reporter, "Somebody must have blocked some sites. What is your problem?">>

Oh dear me. What a well-informed, concerned official! How kind! How polite! How dumb!!!

http://www.pkblogs.com/ [pkblogs.com] is an easy way to access blogspot.

There are many other ways too. The internet routes around censorship - or haven't you heard Dr. Rai?

Naamke vaaste democracy - more an illiterate kleptocracy.

Vel

Censorship at its worst
by Mudit on Jul 18, 2006 01:41 AM  Permalink

This is the worst form of censorship that a supposedly free and democratic country can impose. Now we can proudly say we are in the same league as the great nations of Saudi Arabia, China, Pakistan and Iran. First the reservations, then the draconian broadcast bill and now this, I must say, "free" India's flag surely is flying high. I love my country, but instances like these makes me ashamed that we elected such pseudo-dictators to office.

problem of knowledge
by Freeweb on Jul 18, 2006 01:09 AM  Permalink

The story leads to draw inference that our communication policies are made by people who dont understand the nature of, neither have sufficient knowledge of technology.
What is the point of blocking entire domains and servers from common users? An increase in security of communication systems and steps for prevention from abuse would have made better sense.
Internet is a place of freedom with responsibility and ethics. Same level of responsibility and transparency should be maintained in managing the web, which the technology provides, as internet is not a private property of one person or department or nation and no short-cut measures work in the world of www.

This is unbelievable. I never thought they'd do that in our country. This was meant for madmen led communist countries. I use Primus Direct in delhi. I'm not even able to open blogspot.com. These people should be shot.

Blocking Blogs
by santanu nandy on Jul 18, 2006 12:42 AM  Permalink

Morons can't block terrorism, unable to block corruption, hopelessly inadequate in dealing with any real life crisis and here they are busy blocking free speech.

How can some obscure department take such vital decisions? If a particular blogger has published anything objectionable he should be blocked not the entire fraternity.

Look who is shedding croco tears
by Barbarindian on Jul 17, 2006 11:48 PM  Permalink

The shameless blocking of blogs by the Government is merely a precursor to the censorship regime about to be launched. Sting operations will be banned and the new broadcasting law will effectively curb all media freedom.

Shivam Vij is a card carrying member of a certain party. Note how he will not criticize the government. At present he is peeved that his own propaganda blog was blocked as well. He will soon get it fixed and get the government to block certain blogs. Look how he mentions the clause which specifies the conditions for ban. What can banned? Uhm, everything, depending on how the government feels.
