What a moron you are...
by Swaminathan on Jul 15, 2006 12:39 AM  Permalink

Syed Firdaus Ashraf,

People are people, humans, all part of the same nation, same gene pool (genetics has proved the common ancestory), so why are you simply pushing the "Common Muslim" sob story, aren't other Indians, like the common 200+ folks who died in the Islamist bombings worthy of your concern, aren't the 400,000 Indian families ethnically cleansed from J&K worthy of your consideration! It is always prejudice that clouds a bigoted mind, whether the "educated Muslims" apprehended as part of the anti-terrorist drive or folks like you who are fith columnists for the faith that is wreaking havoc the world over (and to which you belong)! Unless, "educated" folks like you bring true awareness to your "own" religious followers, there is no hope of peace and brotherhood in India! At this time, let us focus on the plight of the "common Indians" who have been devastated by this Muslim terrorist carnage!

Shame on you!

Muslims not trusted
by Milind on Jul 15, 2006 12:36 AM  Permalink

It is unfortunate that Muslims are not trusted and the whole community is blamed when a few muslims are responsible for violence. However we need to remember that there is history for this mistrust. All the bomm blasts in the past that have been conducted in Mumbai have been by Muslims. After such acts they take refuge in a country where they are treated as Mujahirs but given asylum. Can you imagine the state of rest of Hindus in Pakistan or Saudi Arabia if a bomb blast being conducted by a Hindu in that country ?

Instead of being scared, the muslim elders should publicly criticize those responsible for the blasts. They should point out that even muslims get killed in the blast. The muslim elders should personal responsibility for education of muslims and to integrate them in the society. If Aamir Khan, Shahrukh Khan and Azaroodin can succeed in India, why cant the rest ?

Trend
by Sunil on Jul 15, 2006 12:33 AM  Permalink

Taking the actions of a few and calling it a baisc characteristic or a caste , cummunity or creed or taking action(using force, killing) against the cimmunity seems to be a trend. When Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated Brahmins faced it and probably are still facing it to some degree, after the assassination of Indira Gandhi, Sikhs faced it. Creating an issue and telling people who is to blame for it or who you should be scared of is the basic principal of the political game in vote bank politics.

Terrorism
by Raj on Jul 15, 2006 12:30 AM  Permalink

World over, whenever, any terrorist is caught his name is Mohammed or Iqbal or some Muslim name. What names do you find in 9/11, 7/7 (london Bombings), Mumbai Blast 1993, Madrid Bombings etc. Everytime name comes up is a Muslim name. That is why terrortism is getting linked with the names of Muslims. If Muslims want to clear their names, they should come out in public and condemn the terrorist actions, do not harbour terorist activites, have no soft corner for them and pledge to the unifed India above their religion. Constituion of India is above everybody and we are first India then part of any sect, religion etc.

Jai Hind!!!

sad
by Rahul on Jul 15, 2006 12:23 AM  Permalink

It's true that Indian muslims suffer due to these kind of terrorism. Common indian muslim who has nothing to do with this terrorrist acts has to suffer a lot. People should understand that by targetting indian innocent muslims, they are not gonna achieve peace in this country. People like Modi and Thakre only want to take advantage of dead bodies. We should understand that muslims also love this country and we should work together to fight against all this barbarism inside out.

Rediff's hypocracy
by kottureshswamy on Jul 15, 2006 12:22 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Is this an attempt from rediff editors to paint themselves 'secular' when the heart of the matter is not muslim or anyone else belonging to a particular religion. It's a matter of being nationalistic. Be it a muslim or anybody else, if they are residing in INDIA leeching the system and not being loyal for natioal cause and are alinging themselves to 'outside' interests, then they are traitors for sure. Is religion behind this? YES, cause ask the police or the intelligence agencies who have nabbed the culprits.Rediff is turning into the epitome of minority appeasement and it's sickening.
