Mr. Manmohan Singh is a weakling as the PM and does not inspire any respect. And then the Madam, the extra constitutional authority, to whom he has to report. What inspiration does an average Indian get from her in such a grave situation? Mr. Pronob Mukherjee as the Defense Minister, makes one laugh. The vote bank politics , which have eroded our country's potency. Mr.Mulayam Singh Yadav gave a clean chit to the activities of SIMI in UP. The extent of corruption that has penetrated all fields of Indian politics. What ruthlessness do you expect from such leaders Mr. Shisher Bhate? It is a miracle that Mumbaites have shown the courage and valour in face of such odds.
after a long time ive seen some strong writing in the media. My dear friend india needs desperately such infusion of thoughts. Now we should now stop saying anything but let our actions speak.
A point of view well expressed. Message is be soft when you have to, but be ruthless in your action when it comes to destroying a bunch of evil rogues. We need to be peaceful but not on weak foundations.
The Mumbai blasts wont change anything or anybody. Its extremely difficult for a middle class person to live in this country. If there is a bomb blast,it is the common man which suffers.yet he is not allowed to know what the Government is doing to protect their lives from the perpetrators of such inhuman acts. All that the Politicians do is lauds the spirit of the city which faces the brunt and then give statements like 'The Indian Government strongly denounces such acts of terrorism.'Then they will console the people who have lost their near and dear ones and once again, as the incident fades from the public's memory,it is again business as usual for the ministers. They still will insist that this menance can only be solved by international co-operation and through dialogues and in a peaceful process.Due to the apathy and impotency of the Indian Government,I sometimes dont believe in the stories that I studied in my childhood in Moral Science books where the good always won in the end and the evil got severely punished.Had Lord Rama thought of engaging Ravana in to a dialogue peacefully to get back His wife Sita,we wouldn't be celebrating Dussehra and Diwali. Is the PM listening?
there was a slogan read by me 25 years back -tell me anything but give me money. the present politicians also want money at any price and due to this reason there is no political will. secondly they have Z-security hence are safe. they are harbouring and shielding criminals. we have 99.99% corrupt population why should things move in the right direction. we have a bad foreign policy which cannot even handle bangladesh, nepalor pakistan let us not talk of china. we need to run our country under contract by UNO as we are unfit to independently run the show.
I read this article first thing in the morning. Its awesome, I saw myself expressing every word. Its just that you are good with words. This is what every Indian feels. True we civilians cannot do anything except vote this a.....es' to power. Just keep writing such columns. Keep up the good work.

My comment is based on all the comments made by all the respondents ahead of me about Mr. Shishir Matre's article"Indians have to be ruthless against the Terrorists who inflict such wounds in the heart of the nation. I repeat what people have written, selectively: 1) Yes indeed-Nothing else will stop, 2) Wonderful article- Blood boils, 3) I stand with you- You are practical, 4) Why is India soft, 5) Incinerate the evil, 6) India needs a revenge, 7)Strike back unitedly, 8) I agree with everything you said.
No doubt, we have made a lot of noise. But what is practically needed? Our legal system needs a 100% revamp. With anticipatory bails, bails & bails, adjournments after adjournments, coming out with 1000's of pages of useless, meaningless judgements, don't you all think that the root cause of these crimes is the "the ruthless, toothless, truthless, factless, meaningless and mindless delivery of justice in our great nation? It is high time that a National Debate is initiated (by Rediff etc.) on this Most Important reason for our FAILURE. A rule such as 'an eye for an eye' at the right tme for the 'wrongdoers' and justice for 'the wronged' is the need of the hour.
Who do we take vengeance on?

Guys, I know you all are angry towards an act of terrorism...but you tell me who do you want to take vengeance on? And will that return the 200 odd lives or will that stop more blasts from happening? I think the author is influenced more by Bollywood movies on revenge than krishna stories...Rediff.com, please censor such articles which inculcate violence on civilians' minds...How are we going to be different from terrorists then?
I don't think there will be a single genuine citizen of mother India who is not angry by the terror strikes in all her parts from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.
I am sure everybody must be cursing the impotent and opportunist politicians who will rush crying the "secularism" if police go ruthlessly ambushing the hideouts. In fact now it is known to the terrorist and their supporters that do the crime and if police actions starts, start shouting against the police and the government and next day the action would stop. It is so easily that you could blackmail the people in power.
The fresh is the case in Bhiwandi. If Govt.feels that a certain place is suitable for a govt office, it does not matter whether it is owned by a Mandir or Masjid. It is the security of whole society and community which is important. Why a religious body should be afraid of a police station in its vicinity if it is not doing anything wrong. We must have seen that Municipal bodies ruthlessly has taken the society lands for road widening at many places without compensation. It is the same.Important is the will of government to carry its program without thinking of religious uproars of any religion
I would totally agree to the comment by shishir. I fail to understand the psychology of the Indian media which again is a reflection of the common Indian psychology. INstead of making people aware of the rights to live, the media of late have been in some sense teaching the people how to get used to these blasts and get to the normalcy forgetting what happened. These kind of blasts are the blot to a nation and media should spread awareness about it instead of praising the resilience of the citizens.
