Shishir Bhate, I fully agree with you. What you state is desired environment, but for that we need to change the very way our democracy(doesnt mean kill the spirit of our democracy) works. Most our leaders occupy their positions by vritue of how many votes they got not by any technical qualification. Ex. Mr Pranab Mukerji defense minister, does he understand any thig about military strategy? Shiv raj Patil, does he understand how to run internal security? Absolutely NO! rediculous to Hear from MK Narayanan during the last attack that India will send a apt message to PAkis when the time comes.....I think he is waiting for his auspicious moment......may be he should go to a Guruvayoor astroleger to identify this moment........Its high time that we resort to gunship diplomacy.....Lack govt's concern for well being of its citizens, makes me feel less Indian & I am losing my sense of belonging. I am writing from Melbourne. I saw Mr.Singh speech over DD, but I don't think he is having guts to take action. With help of Congress government Muslims are enjoying majority benefit and Hindus are cursed as minority. If Hindus didnt rise against government policy, India is no more for Hindus. Muslims are enjoying much better life than what they will get in Arab world.

I agree. I cannot recall either Lord Rama or Lord Krishna preaching dialogue as weapon against evil. From what I can remember, in Gita, Lord Krishna tells Arjun, "Do not care if your brother, uncle is fighting you. Just side with the truth and remember that it is evil whom you are fighting. Evil will manifest itself in many forms to make your weak, but you have to harden your nerves and put an end to evil."
These terrorists, are worse than the evils Arjun faced. Though Evil, during wars Kauravs or even Ravan, never attacked unarmed men, leave alone children and women. However, terrorists have no regard for human life in any form.
Ram Rajya was not formed through dialogue, it was formed with action. Action should come in now when it is clear that dialogue has failed.

Being ruthless against the terrorists is ok....but we should be cautious that in haste we do not target innocent civilians which is not uncommon under such situations. If innocents are targeted then the problem will aggravate rather than subside. Everyone is quick to point and give the example of Israel. Indeed the israel method seems tempting but we should note that inspite of using all the force in this world the Israelis are still not living in peace. They are still living in terror not knowing when the next suicide bomber will strike. And this is because Israel is using the very same methods which they accuse palestinian militants of using (ie terror).
I agree with the article about india needs to be ruthless. The writer makes a clear point that applying human right to these culprits will not be right as they have lost their right by doing this inhuman act. I do not understand what exactly the message they are trying to convey but it is completely the wrong way. It is these people who do this crime and its brunt will be suffered by ordinary people. It has happened during Babri Masjid demolition and also In Gujarat 2002, we dont want these things to happen again as only the people craving for power and money will win. We dont want the common man to suffer again.
