these dirty politician have only one thing in mind let the non-muslims die, we will beg for muslim votes and rule our states.

The politician's double standards
by balaji on Jul 13, 2006 10:41 PM  Permalink

This is a beautifully written piece. But also look at what the Govt. is doing. The PM says that nobody can make India kneel & these are the same politicians who repealed POTA saying that the Act was inhuman. POTA was a deterrent- albeit a mild one- to terrorists. But now that it has gone, there is no Act that can apply to terrorists. The IPC does not have enough teeth to discourage terrorists & those arrested will walk out on Bail in a couple of weeks. What we need is some legislation that grants special powers to the State to deal with special cases such as Terrorists. Only then the PM's message would carry some conviction with the Indian people.

Terrorism
by Keshav Prasad on Jul 13, 2006 10:34 PM  Permalink

The problem will be solved only when India decides to be ruthless. Terrorists have been slapping our both cheek thousand times. After all when is India going to slap the offender. It is already too late .A nation , in order to win, must know to strike. Willing to wound yet afraid to strike cannot be a national policy. Time has come to learn a lesson from Israel.

If Israel can do it, why cant India?
by Rohit Mathur on Jul 13, 2006 10:34 PM  Permalink

Yes India has become a soft target and that what the terrorists exploit.

look at Israel, only one soldier has been captured and they are hell bent on destroying the rivals network. In Mumbai 200+ die and the Indian Politicians can only play with words.

The Threat to India is within India - at least those lurking within the State- and creating havoc as and when they desire should first be eliminated.

But will the Indian Political establishment care? Had one Politican died, then probably things would have been different. It looks like India doesn't value the lives of its citizens and thats what differentiates us from countries like US, UK and Israel.

Re:Thou shalt not stand idly by
by kheyali on Jul 13, 2006 10:25 PM  Permalink

I think every Indian citizen today would agree with this article in his heart... the problem is with our leaders who have to be always "politically correct"... and the saddest part is we still have some leaders around who actually are distributing certificates to these terror organizations to secure vote banks for teh future... what a shame..

Probably we need to take to the streets with peaceful protests to influence the government to take a harsh stand against terrorism.. we need to learn from Israel and send out the message "dare you mess with us"... how can such small terror groups cause so much harm to such a large country, which has proved its mettle in so many other areas (inspite of our leadership, I would say).. Please Dr Singh - for a change, bring back the faith of the people in leadership... please remember that we do not have dialogues with murderers - we hang them..

Bombay Blasts
by kalyan kumar on Jul 13, 2006 10:24 PM  Permalink

The Maharshtra government should requisition the service of KPS Gill as a special consultant and OSD to motivate the force and crush the mafia underworld and ultra elements now thriving under hawala money and patronage from neigbourhood. Bombay is in the grip of a fear psychosis. The Congress governments in Maharshtra has never been able to tackle the terror in Bombay. Let's hope Vilasrao has some serious commitment to his people and state and not handcuufed by groupism in the party or indecision. It's a challenge-perform or perish. Bombay needs a new security umbrella and a ruthless crackdown on the mafia kings.

GREAT ARTICLE
by Sudipta Banerjee on Jul 13, 2006 10:22 PM  Permalink

I completely agree with the author. He has expressed the views of common man in India who helplessly suffers the most from these incidents. And in retaliation what power he has... to cast his vote for some politician who does nothing to protect him from another incident of such brutality. The terrorists do not deserve humanly treatment and should be punished by the similar fashion as they bring death to so many innocent people.
