Let's walk away from self interest
by Savio Noronha on Jul 14, 2006 12:48 AM  Permalink

Amongst the wide array of questions and views that are being sporadically being laid out after the blasts in Mumbai, a definitive stance that has been constantly entrenching my mind ever since is the complete lack of selflessness in one's viewpoint.

Lives have been lost, daily struggles for livelihoods have been disrupted and life goes on with the threshold growing a few feet higher. What wisdom lies in verbal and intellectual out lashes by condemning people? By furthering divides and restless speculation? Whether it's financial, political or extremist gain, the core ingredient that perpetrates such actions is self interest and anger. Is there any gain in adding more anger to an already hostile environment? As humans and not citizens; we need to have a more holistic outlook to life, detach ourselves from the amnesia of hatred and take responsibility for our world and not just our city or country. Blame, apathy and cynicism lead to disharmony and outrage. Let's lead life purely and let go of our self interest, after all; seeing someone else smile because of your actions makes your smile grow wider.

India needs to be ruthless
by shyam on Jul 14, 2006 12:47 AM  Permalink

Our silly media is responsible for contributinga major part to these attacks, although mahjor blame is on appeasing UPA govt.Media is always busy with potraying gujratis ,RSS and bjp as the villian and muslims as the sufferers .This pent up anger in them erupts as blasts.
rather media should focus on crtisising lalu( for using osama alikes for campaiging, mulayam( for saying SIMI is good, congress(for banning POTA.
Why does the media not take a stand now.

India needs to be ruthless in its vengeance.
by Arnab Chakraborty on Jul 14, 2006 12:20 AM  Permalink

Absolutely Remarkable.I totally agree to whatever this column says.India MUST be ruthless in its vengeance.Take the example of Israel,a truly tremendous and admirable nation.Inspite of being surrounded by terrorist countries who are always ready to create menace on its soil,Israel not only survives but survives with pride and honor only because 1)It has an exceptional intelligence system,2)It's outstanding defence strategy and modern cutting age defence capabilities and 3)The good sense of all the politicians who run Israel. On the contrary,India scores very poorly on all the above 3 factors. To protect it's people, India must act in the same the way the USA or Israel have acted against the curse of terrorism.

re: to start with..
by sunil on Jul 14, 2006 12:19 AM  Permalink

1.)first we will have to identify the infiltration of terrorist organisations' members within our intelligensia, i.e. -IB,RAW,CID etc.., not to leave ISRO. otherwise how can you explain, that IB or RAW had no idea about such a big incidence to follow?
2.)then look for them with in political parties-one SP member spoke like an idiom- 'chor ke dari mein tinka'
"that congress is out to get two of them for anti-national activities(just after the phone tapping incident)".this should be probed.

the list may go on but at least let us start some where...

India needs to be ruthless
by Kiran G Parihar on Jul 14, 2006 12:16 AM  Permalink

Thanks for such a short & brillant article I feel that each & every Indian feels the same as the author.
When I look at countries like Israel(even though situations in India & Israel are different), I am always surprised by the way they respond to terrorists activities.
Indeed India should learn from these countries instead of just shouting PEACE PEACE as there can be no peace through dialouges.

Ruthless Vengeance
by Ajay on Jul 14, 2006 12:12 AM  Permalink

That was a very good article. I agree with whatever all you guys said. Its hightime for the politicians to act rather than issue lame statements like "we salute the brave mumbai people", "lets all face terrorism together" ...
what the heck. When people are being brave and (some) are dying in these blasts, what are you (politicians) doing? Issuing useless statements?
Continue blaming all the terror organizations, after what have they done? What after that. nothing, no action. I don't understand why we keep quite even though we, infact the whole world, know who is behind these attacks. And when those organizations come forward and claim responsibility, what are we waiting for? Blast them, kill each and everyone, i may be sounding harsh but thats what they (terrorists) are are doing. Atleast stab them financially. As one of you suggested, cut the supplies and squeeze them for everything.
