How can we be ruthless when our whole culture supported by 'peaceniks' like Gandhi,Nehru, sonia advocate turning the other cheek?Let them kill, blast rape, plunder the Hindu masses from W.panjab,Kashmir,Bangladesh,Bombay, but peace and minortism is imp.

Hail Musharraf

India needs to be ruthless to terrorists
by G.Ramanathan on Jul 14, 2006 05:02 AM  Permalink

I fully agree with the comments made on this topic. I would like to add that in dealing with terrorists a different approach based on the fact that the terrorists are not just individuals, but have a family and relations is needed. If the terrorists are made to realise that if they kill innocent citizens then their relatives and family members will be in danger, it will have effect just like Mr.Rebario did with Khalistan terrorists.

Hi

I do agree to what you say, but it is the attitude of our people that no government takes any measure, everyone forgets the issue as soon as the media gets another.

We never had a government which will work without pressure from people, and our politicians protest simple things but do not protest against terrorism.

We always say to the world that we are a nation

which shows immense patience, but I feel that we are a nation full of selfish people andcowards.

Christ & Krishna ?
by Avenger on Jul 14, 2006 04:07 AM  Permalink

Dear Mr. Bhate, I don't ever recall Christ killing anyone, even bad people. In fact Jesus said you should turn the other cheek - please don't lump him together with the demon-slaughtering Krishna.

survival of the fittest
by sanman on Jul 14, 2006 03:04 AM  Permalink

Look at how hard the Israelis will fight over the kidnapping of 2 of their men. Now that's a country worth fighting for. Here, it's not just our Indian politicians who are unwilling to follow through, it's our own Indian public who are unwilling. Because if the public were willing, then they would vote for nationalist parties. But the fact that they don't give enough support to nationalist parties only shows that the public doesn't have solid values. So here's a little NEWSFLASH: People without solid values are doomed to perish.

I fully agree with the writer's view. Indian establishment has really become impotent. What will we do with those so-called sophisticated arsenal of weapons when we never use it? Look at Israel. Two (yes, two) of it's soldiers were captured and it retaliated with air strikes in Gaza as well as Lebanon and in our case 200 have died...this establishment is utterly disgusting and so is all previous governments and we can as well say all future govts will also be impotents.I'm an NRI and was shocked that even the police and intellegence officials were clueless. Something is seriously wrong with India inspite of the growing economy. What will we do with a booming economy when the citizens - the pillars of any nation - could not be safeguarded? The only way out is to hit the pockets of extremism - if it's Pakistan, if it's Bangladesh or any other country - wipe them out from the map. JAI HIND!

Can we do it?
by dM on Jul 14, 2006 02:37 AM  Permalink

What you say is so near to what I want to be done. We have to hit back and make them cry and shudder to think of getting back with another attack. It is very smart of you to link your grnadmas story to this action we ought to take. But can we strike like that? Wont it lead to nuclear warfare then as we know our opponents and their military strength. Moreover, are we targetting the civilians or the terrorists. Do we have it in us to figure out where the terrorists are so tht they can be wiped out.

All funding must be checked. Even the small crimes must be put to a halt, no more corruption in any form and we need a pro active intelligence.
