Terrorism
by L H Chulani on Jul 14, 2006 08:59 AM  Permalink

Well said Shishir. The pity is that what people like you and millions others, including myself, feel or say, simply fall on deaf ears. On the other hand, if we have a peace loving leader, we say he or she is a "soft" leader. If we have a no nonsense, tough leader, we would call him or her a dictator. It is a "no-win" situation my friend.
L. H. Chulani.

Why is there no Political Will?
by bhumit on Jul 14, 2006 08:53 AM  Permalink

I know taking a hard stance against terrorism requires immense political will but if 17 years of crisis in Kashmir, the assasination of a Prime Minister (Late Rajiv Gandhi), deaths of 1000s of innocent and hardworking indians, and an attack on our parliament is not enough to gather that will, then nothing ever will be!!

Indians do not need to get used to terrorism and do not deserve to accept it as part of their lives. Terrorists deserve to live in fear of an inevitable and harsh punishment for their senseless acts.

mumbai blasts
by dinesh b daga on Jul 14, 2006 08:53 AM  Permalink

Sir,
People in India are courageous and will support all the actions by govt in rooting out the terrorists and their supporters.
The need of hour is to put words in action and put all the human rights groups on export list OR where they belong under such circumstances ?
Tke case of Israel, with their eight army officials shot dead, they attacked Labenon.
What we did when Bangaladesh linched our solgers and hung them as if dead animals and what our govt did?
?
A STRONGLY WORDED CONDEMNATION !
iF something happens in London, police and british govt comes in action and even shoots without trial the doubtful accused ?

THE MAIN PROBLEM : OUR govt does not value Indian citizens and hence all the problems.

One american Journalist was captured and sliced, the whole american govt put all efforts to get him released ! ofcourse were not successful in getting him released was a different story, but the attitude and actions that matters most.

our political establishement is governed by the likes of Shahbuddins who has openly murdered so many people and enjoying the five star hospitality of the
govt and astonishing govt and legal system does not have time to take up the case.

by Nag on Jul 14, 2006 07:53 AM  Permalink

this is a bloody awesome atricle mate ....

Ye we all are frustrated, sick of the govt letting us down, and more ...

Lets all take this blame too. after all we pride ourselves saying we are tollerent, peace loving country .... I truly admire Isreal on this ... one soldier kidnaped ... and all hell breaks loose to secure him ... and attack happens on West bank ... 2 are kidnapped in southern lebnon and ... Beirut is attacked .... and what does India do? get a sympathy in the international community, blame pakistan and well play cricket the next day. When BDR captured and mutilated 16 soldiers in 2001 .... what did India do?

the more i think more dissapointed i am with the situation.

Can Politicians live without security
by Mukesh on Jul 14, 2006 07:49 AM  Permalink

I feel that our politicians must be stripped off their security and escorts. If they are not able to give security to citizens, what the hell they can do?

Its we who elected them. We are their employers and the politicians are our employees. How can you expect the CEO live a poor life than an employee. I think,if this measure is taken. We can expect better things.

It common that a person knows the real pain only when that person is hurt. So,by doing this, politicians will certainly act like a human.

Why USA is quiet when Israel is bombing. Yesterday, Mr. Bush supported their act of waging a war on lebanon and Palestine as self defence.

Are we not eating food? Is the blood flowing through our viens is not pure? I think, we must start now or else it will be late.India is not a hindu country. Its a secular country. Muslims enjoy most freedom than in so called islamic nations. I can bet on that. One more thing, How can on easily prepare bombs that too using RDX. It can happen only because of the government inefficiency. We must correct atleast our security measures.I have one final word to politicians"Donot make us scapegoats"
To terrorits:"Muslims also died and are injured"

Do the Poilticians know this?
by Suraj on Jul 14, 2006 07:37 AM  Permalink

Though i stay far from Mumbai and all my near and dear ones in Mumbai were unaffected by the recent Blasts, it is heart rendering to see pictures of the people affected and read about the experiences and feelings of others on the blog. yes, the politicians are visiting the site of attack and people in the hospitals and they are bound to be moved at heart by seeing the sorry state. but the question to be asked is how much they feel themselves accountable for all the pain and suffering of the victims?
According to our ancient texts of Manu Smriti and Niti Shastras, the leaders of the state are responsible for 1/6 th of all the karmic reactions that are incurred in any wrong-doing in the state under their rule. The Shastras are very strict in attaching great responsibilities to posts of Power and priviledge held by the rulers. if they can enjoy to rule over their subjects, they must also be equally or more cautious in suppressing any acts of sin in their state. Else, they have to pay for the same. So, how much onus does the Politicians take on themselves for curbing such terrorist acts so as to save their own interests and not be losers themselves?
