Totally agree with you. Let our politician read this article. I am very much sure that even if they read hundred times, they dont have the courage to take action against the terrorists. Because we are the soft minded Indians.
It is a shame on all of us Indians that we forget all these incidents very soon. PM and other ministers will condemn whenever a bomb blast take place. In Kashmir on an average everyday we hear a bomb blast. Who cares. Still we are talking of Peace! Shame, Shame!.
I am also totally against the News Channels and other Print Media comments that people of Mumbai are brave enough to face any tragic incident and BOmbay people never give up, Bombay is back to normal... etc.. What these means? Whoever has lost his / her life, is lost. The loss is for his or her family. Just think about that family members.
I remember when some terrosists attached the Parliament, the government came up with Z security to all the top ministers and in MUmbai also they built compound wall around the Vidhan Bhawan. So they are scared of the terrorist attack. But what about the ordinary people of India? Their life has got no value? Come on India!

lets do things beyong typing msgs in websites which would disappear in a days time and nothing will change, let all of us in our respective cities gather in city's main place on this sunday, with candlelights, lets run an sms campaign for the same, lets call this campaign FREEDOM from Terrorism, lets fight for Anti Terrorism LAW, lets show it to thr world that India too has a heart and guts, in spain 2 million people protested the madrid blasts, same in london and united states, they remeer these incident every year, and we forget them in a day, what happens when this happens to our loved ones, it just takes our own initiative to change the things no one elese is going to do it and lets Do IT NOW
Every nation worth its salt has found some way of responding to such terror attacks. Its high time we also find our way of responding to the chellenge of terror. If state fails to do that may be public has to take law in to its own hand.
Mumbaikers! Forget the State. The city will have to take it's own measures. Let us collect from each citizen and offer bounty on the heads of the leadership of the terrorist organisation.
If our own Government can't take a stand, let we citizen who bears the brunt of terrorism take a stand.
We need to hit back and take this war to the terrorist's door steps. Let there be a bounty offer on the head of each and every leaders of the LET, JEM etc. If our State agencies can't do the job, let us citizens hire mercenaries to take on these mercenaries. Enough is Enough.
Last but not the least, I think we need to decide on a minimum criteria and qualifications to head any ministry. Internal and external security, as it stands today, must not be handled by mere politicians, who in our democratic system reaches that position not on merit but by scheming, lies, manipulating and what not? and who's decisions would rest not on long-term interest of the country but on smaller political gains and the next electoral gains.

Not a Bad Idea at all, If a organization can pull off such a scheme then I think you will start seeing sea of tips out of which cops needs to fish for genuine one. Still a good idea.

Hello, my dear Author!
U r praisign too much of America. But u know US has taken the help of PAKISTAN,which is the most dangerous and terrorist country in the world. In other words, u r taking the help of a terrorist to fight the other terrorist. It is open secret that Taliban was created by Pakistan. US should hv fought both Taliban & Pakistan, if it was really interested in wiping off terrorism. US cannot dare to touch Pakistan, even it knows that Pakistan scientist is secretly selling the nuclear technology to rogue nations like North Korea, Iran, Libya etc.,. Pakistan is today the most dangerous terrorist country as there is a risk that its nuclear technology can pass on to terrorist organisations, it is nurturing and harbouring for so long. And if the US has real guts let it fight with Pakistan. But I am sure it will not touch Pakistan, because it is a nuclear power. Instead it will go after soft targets like Afghanistan, Iraq, etc.,

Bush is the answer ... Get a clue of what is happening around the world.
It was these republicans that actually created Islamic millitants to battle Russians in Afghanistan during the 80's. Yes, Al Qaida is a result of the US.
And if are like US, then there will be 60 'official' deaths in India and in Pakistan everyday as it happens in Iraq.
An eye for an eye is not the solution.
The solution begins with those who have the resolve to find a solution. It is very easy to say bomb this country.

Sanman,
You've got it wrong. Sai writes about the shortcomings of the Hindu custom / those rituals that we adhere to blindly in today's world. But, that doesn't mean he should also support the terrorists or Pakistan, when they are spreading violence in our nation. Religion and religious beliefs are one thing, nationalistic pride and the security of the nation is quite another. Please don't confuse yourself between the two. Be clear in your views.
Sai, you really make me sigh at Rediff with exasperation. You are always the first to write disparagingly of the "hawkish", "hardline" "Hindu right-wingers" blaming them for most ills. And now you're suddenly oscillating in the opposite direction, in one of your convenient mood-swings.
You remind me of the liberal left-wing US President in the Tom Clancy book "The Sum of All Fears" who is confronted by Jack Ryan. That president was pursuing naively liberal and dovish policies of appeasement, and when his country suffers a massive terrorist attack, he immediately wanted to nuke Qom.
I wish India had a Tom Clancy novelist to parody not just the stupidity of our dovish Neville Chamberlain politicians, but also ignorant weather-vane columnists like yourself.

I think you have a problem with Logic. Yes we want Peace, Yes we want Progress, and Yes we advocate these policies and profecies, but mind you these dont work with people who just look to harass for fun. These terrorists dont have a motto. I dont think you are dumb enough to overlook the fact that there was absolutely no reason for these bombings. These were just to spread some fear amongst the public, sit back and enjoy. In such cases, the only yardstick is canning the miscreants. I personally rever and love the profecies of mahatma Gandhi and his teaching and feel proud to discuss and debate about it, but at the same time Gandhi said that being a victim quietly is also equally wrong. Dont hurt anybody but dont let anybody hurt you. These people dont understand words, so let us make them understand in the language they understand.
This is a indeed a well written article..I cannot help but admire Israel in this regard..for one soldier captured by Hamas, they responded by taking captive 80 odd palestinians!! We need to do something like this..instead of running buses and trains to Pakistan.
what ever is written in the article is very true. i think this article must be sent to the prime minister and president of india to see the facts and act positively on it. no expectations from sonia gandhi as she cant feel the pain anyway. indian emotions can only be understood by an indian. they just sit in the AC room in delhi and whenever required just go to the accident or blast site and meet the injured people. what about those who have lost life? will our so called leaders be desparate to meet them?

Dont be in a notion that If u send this through it will reach the president.I had once sent him a mail regarding the taking over of a sensitive port in visakhapattanam by Dubai Shipping Corporation.I received no reply from him.The port in question was originally earmarked for our navy. Its so close to strategic naval assets.
I am sure that the people in between filtered that mail and made sure our president didnt see it.
We the ordinary citizens are on our own, unless u have some minority tag attached with u.
Somebody please tell this terrorists that our dear Super PM from Italy, original PM and politicians wont care even if the ordinary citizens are killed in thousands. We dont have anywhere else to go.So pls stop killing us.

Hi Dinesh, You are right but this is just a Law of Nature which says "The Fire will first burn the place where it started before spreading to other places". There is nothing that we can do.
My thoughts are similar but will add that by sleeping with the enemy our establishment is forgetting one basic issue and that is the fact that which each terror act committed the Indian fabric is being divided. We are Indians first but these acts are turning muslims into minority from the Indians that they are. Read the list of people who have lost their lives to these acts of terror and we will find that more than 50% of the deaths have been from the muslim community (but Indians). This should be dealt with a firm hand before it is too late and we have a fragmented nation on communal lines (the shadows are already visible).

I agree to what you are saying, these terrorist are staying in our house and are threatening us and killing our family members.. Why this government is for, they have the duty to save the citizens of India and why because of few handful of ediot terrorists our people live in fear.. we should stand up and bang them of so that the fear is not our but their.. they should have fear from us that if they do mistake they will be punished... As we have seen ever mistake is punishable... You can have mercy on someone for 2 times that is called as mercy and when the person does it again and again and we don't do anything that means we are afraid of them in our own home...
Pity on the people who has such politicians who are only looking for the votes for the next elections by going and meeting the wounded and families of the dead. They have forgot their duties and we should remind them, they they have to protect us. They don't have guts like America to fight back...
I have seen another problem these social welfare organisations, they are not less than politicians, they will come up and try to stop the war... they just need publicity and the biggest threat is the news reporters, they on
