i fully agree with your view.it is not supression of fact.we should learn what we are here to show our audience.a sence of fear or community support that people are doing at time of crises.

i agree
by jak on Jul 11, 2006 11:43 PM  Permalink

it is a very valid request...channels might want to show the gruesome pictures in an attempt to draw attention. i am all for delivering the full news to all viewers, but some discretion must be used.

Cannot Agree More
by Manish on Jul 11, 2006 11:37 PM  Permalink

You are absolutely right, When 9/11 happened the news and media in US restrained themselves in showing grafix that would raise fear among viewers at the same time repecting those who died.
In India its a different picture, every channel is trying to get more video clips, images that are extremely grafich in nature, Come on guys, don\'t do this at such times. Give some respect to the innocents who died...

Complete Failure of the State
by Phani on Jul 11, 2006 11:37 PM  Permalink

I feel that there is no sign of Administration this is not the first time such a crisis occured in mumbai, this is thrid one after 1993 and 2003. State has not planned to overcome in the crisis time. Eye witness counts suggest that sufferers were carried on the initiative of co passengers. I request State wake up atleast now.

News coverage on the blasts
by Rashmi Nair on Jul 11, 2006 11:37 PM  Permalink

I totally concur. I was petrified watching the images sitting in the US. Showing these sort of images does send across a sense of fear to the ones watching...The news channles must try and potray how the state is trying to handle the situation rather than causing tension to the people watching. I understand that they are trying to illustate the situation there right now, but they dont have to be so crude.

Mandal comission
by Pranav Nawani on Jul 11, 2006 11:36 PM  Permalink

I appreciate comment of Vikram Sood...but its time for goovernment to learn as well why Ambulances were not there no one would like to carry a dead body in clumsy manner but they have to because they are not made available resources. Showing it to TV is bad as children sees them but it is an eye opener for TAX payers to question where TAX money goes if government is not ready we cannot keep running way and let the government do what it wants with TAX payers money. I regret to say this but our government is never ready be it flooding or bomb blast or any other thing. Its always locla people who bring the act together. Then a man will come in white clothes and announce some moeny for family affected and their durty is over there till next situation arises and in between they work hard to keep their uniform white. Its time to think where are we and where we could be just a littel effort.
Regards
Pranav Nawani

mumbai blasts
by kdvatse on Jul 11, 2006 11:34 PM  Permalink

It is impossible for police and medicos to reach at any spot in mumbai within even 10 minuts.Traffic runs at 1 km for 15 min speed. It is so crowded city. At this moment of time , we should not blame any body for delayed help, rather we should support the administration. The supreme court should act now for thining the population of all major cities. It is inhumane to live in mumbai and travelling the sub urb trains .
I pray for all the deads.
