A number of privileged persons (some extremely well-connected) have ensured that Zaheera was punished for perjury.
Zaheera did commit perjury, but three questions have to be answered: 1. Has anybody bothered to examine the tremendous pressures on Zaheera and her family, coupled with their psychological trauma, which led to Zaheera's flip-flops in court? An affluent person in Zaheera's position would probably have walked away by getting a renowned psychiatrist (or a panel of psychiatrists) to pronounce a suitable diagnosis. 2. Some politicians have put pressure on Zaheera to change her evidence. Why don't the persons (who ensured that Zaheera was punished for perjury) try to have any action taken against them? Is it because these people can hit back, while Zaheera couldn't? 3. A number of well-known persons have committed perjury in well-publicised cases. For example, in the Jessica Lall case, and in the Rahul Mahajan case. Why is nothing done about them?
